Why Escobar?... Why a TE?

Don't see him nearly as a BPA at pick 47.

He'sa Cowboy now, so I'm with him.

He would have lasted maybe 3 more picks. Pretty darn close.

If TE was such of a concern, they could have had the best at 18 and still had Frederick at 47.

I don't like the pick in the second, but the why is Parcells, always TE's and LB's. I don't agree with Him.

You have no idea if that's the case, so please stop spewing this nonsense.

Oh, and in your hypothetical, we don't draft Williams, who will likely be our eventual #2.

So, no.

Irony.

You should learn the definition of irony. He sentence was predicated on certainty, whereas mine was based on likelihood. See the difference?

Finally a solid Center, Dez, Austin, Terrence Williams, Gavin Escobar and Witten.

Tony Romo has to feel more comfortable.

Witten is getting old and we needed to draft his replacement. How many people on this board have wined and cried about JJ being short sighted and not drafting replacements. When we do, the same people whine and moan talking about its not a need.

I don't think it's about replacing Witten, but more about finding another TE to pair up with him to run a more effective 2 TE set. Witten is only 31 and I expect will be a Cowboy for another 5 years.

I get hand OPs vibe. Lets be honest, when were talking Thursday morning the menu had its main courses as OL, DL and Safety. We reached in OL and S and seemed to load up on guys we had. Seems like something a contender would do vs someone with holes.( a written in a live of an old prospector)

If we get a FA RT and G then I'll be happy with the offseason. I'm okay with seeing how the defense does this season in the 4-3. Our only chance at a Super Bowl is through Romo. Protect him and get him some weapons. He's a FA RT and G away from having no excuses.

A FART away from having no excuse?

Well, I hope he gets that out of his system in time. ;)

Seriously though, what does "FA" mean, free agent?

Well, let Jerry explain it for you:

"Some of the things that we tried to do with Martellus but we just couldn’t get it done, we couldn’t get it working," Jones siad. "We had packages we worked on for weeks out here just to get packages in, and he didn’t show. That sounds negative toward him, but he didn’t show. Having said that, we welcome the opportunity to add a tight end, a New England-type emphasis player, and can this quarterback have both of him? He sure can."

Still confused?

OK, me too.

Judging by that jibberish, I'm guessing Jerry wanted another TE because A.) he wants to try to copy New England's offense or B.) he wanted to copy New England in having a Mexican tight end.

I definitely think we will sign an OG like Brandon Moore. At that point you have Frederick, Costa and Kowalski at Center and Livings and Bernadeau competing for the other OG spot and you should be fine.

Wouldn't Romo be happier with C, G/RT, Dez, Witten, Austin and TWO defensive contributors so he doesn't have to win the game in the last min ?

I think that quote says it all. We've been trying to run what New England is using now since drafting Marty B, but Bennett wasn't getting it done.

Obviously, Phillips didn't last year and Dallas doesn't believe Hanna can be the guy, either. So the Cowboys gladly pulled the trigger on a guy they believe can, except this time they actually valued receiving skills over blocking.

I just watched the press conference and they wanted this guy bad. The Cowboys are not only planning to run 12 sets, but 13, too - three tight ends, and Hanna is very much part of their future plans.

Jerry said their first three picks were all lumped together on their board in the early 20's, and they got them all.
