Why Escobar?... Why a TE?

You have no idea if that's the case, so please stop spewing this nonsense.

Oh, and in your hypothetical, we don't draft Williams, who will likely be our eventual #2.

So, no.

Trades only happen at 18? This draft could have went many different ways other than the way Dallas chose to go. Jerry is not known as a draft and trade master.

Uh huh.

Wishful thinking hasn't ever and never will translate into "likelihood". Bottom line, you don't know about your statement anymore than he did about his.

Wouldn't Romo be happier with C, G/RT, Dez, Witten, Austin and TWO defensive contributors so he doesn't have to win the game in the last min ?

I think Romo would be happier with putting TDs on the board rather than goose eggs or FGs.

How many times did the Cowboys enter the red zone and leave with 0 or 3 points? Have we all really forgotten how inconsistent our team has been in the red zone these past couple of seasons?

This pick gives Romo a big, red zone threat with great hands who can go up and catch TDs. I can't remember how many times a guy like this would have come in handy last season when we couldn't convert in the red zone.

It is my opinion and the opinion of most fans that know Frederick was a reach. He would have been there at 47. Now, the top TE was still on the board at 18. Do you disagree?

Maybe. We didn't want to risk getting losing out on who we had as best rated center in this draft.

I just watched the press conference and they wanted this guy bad. The Cowboys are not only planning to run 12 sets, but 13, too - three tight ends, and Hanna is very much part of their future plans.

Jerry said their first three picks were all lumped together on their board in the early 20's, and they got them all.

If true and all three turn out to be meh, then Dallas needs to fire the people who put together the board.

That's clearly what it came down to. Dallas wanted to take a first-round lineman, but the only ones they had on their 19-player first-round board were gone.

The Cowboys chose to trade down hoping they'd get to choose from their next-highest-rated linemen (they said there were two). One was gone it seems and they didn't want to risk losing the other, even though he was rated 22nd overall (a second-round value) on their board.

So by pick value (31st), Dallas chose a player rated higher than the pick it used. By round value, it took a second-rounder the Cowboys didn't think would make it to 47.
