Why flag TO and not others??

TO rarely got flags like that before. Its actually a tribute to him.

HE IS NOW REALLY A COWBOY.

They are throwing flags at him..

Its just a matter of time before they come up with a new penalty with his name on it!

The rule is all over the place.

Cant go to the ground, cant have group celebration but you can jump into crowd and have a group celebration with the fans and you can throw the ball anywhere.

I would not be suprised to see this changed eventually. Either tighten it up all the way or let them celebrate.

Even the removing the helmet rule is ridiculous. Pretty soon you wont be able to emphatically flip down your chin straps.

LOL Can you just picture a ref making that call and then explaining it to the crowd.:lmao2:

I guess they don't consider prayer a celebration.

Kind of ticky tack. I think the anti-celebration stuff has gone too far because the celebrations were going too far. It's a shame.

Posted this in another thread, but it fits the discussion.

Sad that the NFL had to make this rule, but the celebrations were starting to get out of hand. I believe that the "going to the ground" part was really to prevent one particular type of celebration that was on it's way to happening.

Granted, it's just a projection, but with players always trying to one-up the last celebration, it was only a matter of time before a WR started #@$%&ing the end zone or football after a TD. With the overblown outrage from Moss's 'mooning' the fans and such, I'm figuring Goodell wanted that particular celebration stopped before it happened.

Now many perfectly fine celebrations are flagged in order to prevent the tasteless ones.

Personally, I was more mad about the BS pass interference call.

man Owens should change his last name to League Hate me.

Well, with Owen's popularity, I'm sure he'd have to foot at least a $750,000 bill to Reebok.

Yeah Brandon Jacobs and that incident... in retrospect... I agree.

What about the Lambeau leap?

Excellent point....I would like to have an answer from the league to that question.

I also asked that question in the game thread on Sunday. The only reasoning I can come up with is that the lambeau leap celebration doesn't take place in the endzone. Maybe that is the difference in the rule. If it only covers endzone celebrations then Owens should go to the sidelines or out the back of the endzone to do his celebration.

I'm just guessing that is the rule. Still, it's pretty stupid if you ask me. He wasn't taunting anyone and didn't use any props.

TO has spent an entire career trying to blow our minds with some innovative way to get some face time with his celebrations.

Right or wrong, it's coming back to bite him in the rear, and it's proving to be a costly thing to his team.

TO, we know you're there, we know you're all that. Jerry has given you the sun and the moon, your teammates love you, and you've found a good home in Dallas.

So may I recommend a celebration that will be certain to blow the minds of meadia and fans alike, while not bring the wrath of the league and it's officals?

Next time you score, toss the ball to the offical...pump it up with the guys that escorted you into the end zone...then go and give kudos to the lineman and Romo...and head it to the sidelines.

Representing the star with a little dignity and grace would rub opponents more than some rehearsed schtick.

Leage officials to referees: players can celebrate so long as he is not someone we hate.

TO's celebration was a premeditated dance. TO was doing his Usain Bolt 100M impression. He deserved the penalty. Going to one knee to pray is NOT a celebration.

It all comes down to who is the player doing it. I saw quite a few players spike the ball which I believe is a delay of game under the new rules, but I will probably see a flag the minute T.O. does it.

Big name star, national TV game. The NFL is trying to crack down on celebrations (it's stupid I think). Clearly did this to try and send a message.

Luckily it didn' cost the team. As much as I don't see it as a big deal, I hope Owens remains a bit smarter about it the rest of the year.

I'm not really sure the celebrations were going to far. I feel like it should be up to the head ref of any given game to decide if a celebration is taunting or a delay of game. They should open the door in my opinion.

Coach Sherman was talking to TO after the incident. I assume he was telling him that he can't keep costing the team 15 yards a whop. The question is will TO listen?

Personally, I thought the Usain Bolt thing was pretty clever, but a rule is a rule, however dumb. I just wish the league would let this guy be creative. TO has done everything from donating the football to the Salvation Army to pouring popcorn on himself, but touching the ground gets 15 yards. Ridiculous.
