Holy crap.

Baltimore runs the super secret 4-3-4 Rayisgonnakickourass Weak Bandit Over as their base defense.

Dallas would have to get all new players for that sparky.

Are you related to Mike Zimmer?

hey zimmer was a good 4-3 coach here at one time.that team came just as close to actually winning a playoff game then this years.lol.

We switched in 2005 to the 3-4. We were still a 4-3 team in 2004 and that defense was far, far, far worse than the 2005, 2006 and 2007 defenses.

And I don't think the defense has stunk in the 3-4 except for December 2006. And I think some guy who just got hired by the Bengals has something to do with it.

well anybdy could have known from parcells famous offseason that 2004 was parcells big failure that set dallas back a couple yrs.

Dallas had bertrand berry and antoine winfield basicaly locked up. but parcells knew he didnt want to stay in a 4-3. who does he sign? wiley, chad eaton and tyrone williams. ***!!!!

how can u say our defense was good?it was ok.****** aaron rodgers smoked this defense.cmon.this defense wasnt 13-3 the offense was.we lost to Eli freaking Manning ,and even when we beat him he torched us,he sucks.watch ole eli this weekend against a good defense, and a very good secondary.we need a playmaker cb like cromartie, dump RW,use anthony henry as free safety, hamlin as SS,a fat 3-4 NT.take the blue glasses off guys, talk to any football fan and they will say dallas defense is pretty weak.

Tampa had the #2 overall D this year, and Eli played well against them, FWIW.

The stats show us being pretty good and with a good offense teams are likely to rack up some yards passing against us since they are throwing the ball more. That being said, we finished well in QB rating allowed and Yards Allowed Per Pass Attempt.

We also crushed Brett Favre before he got taken out, Eli didn't torch us in the second week (71 QB rating for the week 11 game), and we handled McNabb quite well.

The defense needs to improve, there's no question about that. But it hardly sucked this year and getting rid of a lot of the players on a pretty good defensive squad is just an unwise move.

Our D sucked this year? I must have missed that.

By sucked, I'm sure the poster meant "did not win games for us on those occasions when we lost"

Every game we lost this year was on the offense. Our D played well enough in each loss to put us in a position to win.

The defense played very well the 2nd half against the Giants when it really mattered, Romeo and company just couldn't get it done with that one big play they were so accustomed to doing to save our proverbial *****...

We couldn't score points:bang2:

I mean in 2003 our D kicked butt in the 4-3 and many years before that.I know that RW has sucked since the switch.not that it would have anything to do with him or maybe the scheme does, idk.the 3-4 is ran by so many teams now, whats baltimore run especially in their hay days?
True, our D did not play "lights out" against the Giants BUT they only gave up 21 points. Heck, if we can't beat a team who only scores 21 points, then we deserve to lose......

We only gave up 230 total yards-140 in the air and 90 on the ground.

And keep in mind-7 of those pts were largely from our ST-some bad tackling gave them the ball in FG range, which, of course, gave them a *short* field to work with.

Yup, in the end, our D did not lose this game. Our ST and "high-powered" O did.....:(

2003 was a case of smoke and mirrors. We faced virtually NO good Offenses all season long. The ones that we did like Philthy torched us. NE, Philthy, Miami and Carolina lit us up. And none of them were REALLY all that great.
I think Philthy had like the #6 offense and they were the only top 10 offense we faced all season.

Exactly. No also no one needed to score to beat us because we had (one of the) worst offenses in the league

why was it so good in 2003 tho?i remember it being very tuff.almost baltimorish?btw what do they run?

This is ridiculous. 2003? 2003 was PENALTY HEAVEN. Read my first post. I don't know <what> you remember, but our defense was not the ****. I remember we were #1 one year, or something close to it - but it was all because of penalties.

I can't blame this season on the Dfense. This seasons loss can be laid squarely at thefeet of Crayton. 2 touchdown passes were blown by him. If people are going to lay last years slippery ball fiasco on Romo then we have to put this years slippery fingers fiasco on Crayton. :bang2:

Quite simply-we don't have a monster 330 pd Wilfork/Jamaal Williams/Casey Hampton at NT. Jason Ferguson is pretty good, but this mere 315 pder ain't gonna get it done(plus he has zero pass rushing skills).

All in all-we just can't get alot of movement in that middle, which should open things up from there.
Agreed.

The D did their part too. That TD they allowed at the end of the half was a killer. You could literally feel the moment shift at that point (I was at the game).
