Young was very good but I've ALWAYS been thrilled that it was Young in those NFC Title games and not Montana. I have no shame in admitting that I really do believe that our 3-1 advantage in Superbowl wins, in that era, might not be in our favor if it were Montana instead of Young playing.

To me, it kinda breaks down like this.

Joe "Cool" was to Danny White as Troy Aikman was to Steve Young.

All were good QBs, IMO. It's just that one had to win and won had to lose. The one who could stand up above the rest won. The won who was very good but could not stand taller lost.

Dallas probably would have won it in 1994 if Montana was still in San Fran and leading the niners. He was one of the greatest, but by the end of his career he was not the same QB. He was still good, but he was not at his best. Those back problems have a way of taking away a QBs skills. It wasn't just Young's skills that kept Montana on the bench and then Joe being shipped to KC.
