Why I think Spencer will play for the Cowboys next year

Because he will have missed a year of playing and will be coming back from microfracture surgery. No team will take a chance and pay him big money. He will sign a one year deal with the Cowboys to prove he can still play at a high level.

I don't think there is much chance of Spencer being back, but if he gets healthy, he'll have a lot of teams interested in signing him. There are very few teams that don't want to improve their pass rush, IMO.

I actually think there's a decent chance, at least so far as I think they'd be the favorite to get him. Coming off surgery he's going to get a prove-it deal, and it's likely the Cowboys would pay more on a one year prove-it than anyone else.

He is gone. Significant missed playing time plus a lingering injury on the downside of his career = Good riddance.

I'd imagine that there'd have to be a heck of an endorsement from the team doctors or he'd have to come extremely cheap.

Jerry sent Terry Glenn packing on Hard Knocks with the same injury.

Granted Spencer has more time but this injury is one that just doesn't seem to allow players to return to form. I've heard Colston had it at one point but not sure.

Anyone know of the NFL players who have had it and returned to being a good player?

I had given him up for gone but thats a possibility. Theres also not gonna be the market there for veterans that there has been. But I still think a team like NO will give him a 3 year contract that SJ won't match. Spencer playing another year would be good but Wilbur and Crawford and Selvie are the future ends for the Cowboys.

I loved Terry Glenn before the zombie bit him, or whatever happened.

I would love to see him back but its going to be between him or Hatch and neither will get a big-time offer.

No way we can possibly afford him.

He's gone. We got a player named George Selvie that is on pace to match him in sacks.

Found this regarding recovery.

To me football involves a lot of explosive movement, therefore I think he's done.

What are the roadblocks to recovering from microfracture surgery?

Although the physical therapy process is rigorous and tempered to your individual knee and surgery, explosive knee movement may take a long time to resurface as a normal activity, especially if you are an athlete. Patience is the most important factor. If you suspect your knee is still not fully recovered, do not attempt explosive knee movements that may injure your knee.
