I wouldn't be against bringing him back for a 1 year deal but i'm not sure how he feels about that. He may can get a better deal somewhere else. If healthy someone will get a bargain. I'm indifferent on it. I don't mind if he's gone and I don't mind if he's back.

I could see it possibly happening, but I'd think they go after Hatcher first and try to get him signed for a couple of years. If his price is too high, maybe they make some kind of offer to Spencer if the knee is progressing and he comes cheap. I don't see the team going after both, and if they go after one, the disruptive 3-tech who's playing at an All-Pro level so far makes much more sense for a short-term veteran contract.

My guess is he signs elsewhere. He wants to get paid and someone else can have that burden.

Why I think Spencer will play for the Cowboys next year

Because he will have missed a year of playing and will be coming back from microfracture surgery. No team will take a chance and pay him big money. He will sign a one year deal with the Cowboys to prove he can still play at a high level.

Imagine the threads the day that signing is announced. I might have to call in sick for mod duty that day. Provided the CZ doesn't completely melt down.

I'd call in sick just to monitor the threads on a minute by minute basis.

Spencer is gone. Even if there was a remote chance that Spencer wanted to come back, he's damaged goods and isn't worth the risk.

I don't get the obsession with this guy. I just don't see his worth. He hasn't done that much to warrant the attention and faith fans have in him around here..

Maybe I have forgotten what he has done, considering he hasn't played in forever. But, I think Dallas has others that can and have filled his "void"..

He just isn't worth resigning, or worth the taking of a roster spot from a player that could probably truly help this team now or in the future. A "young" player.

He could end up having to play 2014 on a very low or incentive based contract. I don't see him getting money that is guaranteed before he finishes training camp.

The Cowboys might not be happy that he decided to get the surgery. It appeared that Garrett expected him to wait and try to come back this season.

The big question at DE, IMO, is Ware. Will he finish this season healthy enough to be worth his 12.2 million base salary next season?

For me it comes down to 2 things health of Spencer and contract. Missing the season like this and given age I think the window on a big contract any where’s is slim to none. If Spencer were willing to take a more modest contract with incentives built in then I would love to have him back next year

I dont see him here, I would imagine that DE is going to be address early in the draft, that plus Crawford coming back and Selvie I dont see a spot for him coming of that injury.

Man I'm ready to move on.... Especially if he's gonna cost a lot of money.

Guys coming off microfracture never cost much. Don't confuse him with Ratliff. Spencer wanted to play he just couldn't

No idea why you wouldn't want him back on a cheap 1 year deal. No one is going to sign a 30 year old coming off microfracture surgery a multi year deal unless its some sort of option involved. Give him a base salary of $2M and have it go up by $1 or 2 Mil every 4 games games he plays...or some scenario like that. Really wouldn't be a horrible idea

No one is going to sign Anthony Spencer to a long term deal next year at a price he will want. His best bet is to resign with us for a very small amount. Maybe 2 or 3 million dollars. Try to have a great year, and get a 3 or 4 year deal made for him going forward. Either way it helps buy us time. I'm not against paying him 2 or 3 million if he can pass a physical. Even if he gets hurt, it wouldn't cripple us. The name of the game is buy low sell high. We could also potentially trade him next year after signing a manageable contract.

he and austin are both gone...

time to restore the star

players like spencer and ratliff played jerry like a drum.

as much as i can't stand jerry being the gm..

one thing he does that other teams don't is keeping players for the long haul he likes.

people like rat and spencer take advntage instead of being faithful.
