Why I'm not impressed with Schotty

Some people say keep it short so here we go. Garrett-McCarthy and even add in Moore as a HC in waiting. All had great offenses. Shotty running around taking laps about this offense, but he hasn't done anything. All these guys had one ace up their sleeve named Dak Prescott. Now we all can argue about salary-playoffs-etc. But nobody can argue that every year no matter who's head coach. Dak has always quarterbacked a high-powered offense in the regular season. So? In that respect -what has Schotty changed?? Nothing!!
Ok. Somebody going to say he is changing the culture. Garrett did the same thing and how did that work out. Putting key players together at certain lockers. Talking about accountability. That's why I say Schotty is Garrett 2.0. IMHO...Just another wasted coaching comfort hire-puppet by Jones. Hope I'm wrong. I did like Schotty at the start but now seeing too much of Garrett. Yep. Like Garrett the offense is great. But just like Garrett the rest of the team stink. So minus offense and culture. What has Schotty really changed?? Other first year guys have turned their teams completely around. Yet-here we are again 8-8. Garrett...

I just think he offers a bit more than Garrett did, Jason was so robotic and boring, I don't know man
Ok... Schotty is a more fun coach. 8.8 either way....I could careless if the guy doesn't even give a presser. He get's us a different outcome?? Great job!!!! Good reply though.

Shottenheimer is the best coach they’ve had since JJ. He’s establishing a culture that will prove to show positive results. It already has. His offense is the #1 offense in the NFL. Yes, Dak is a big part of that, but his scheme using a lot of motion and balanced with a good running game has been lethal and unstoppable minus the penalties and turnovers. The Cowboys are lucky to have him as players are finally being held accountable for how they conduct themselves on and off the field.

You do realize Dallas has always had a top offense under Dak no matter who has been at head coach. Garrett did that same team culture changing Schotty is doing now. As I said with Garrett, he put certain guys up front in the locker room to supposedly show leadership. That crap is so over-rated. IMHO...winning covers everything. You win -you have a great locker room. You lose? You won't. And most players know this is crap also.

The offense was pretty good. I didn’t always like his approach but we aren’t firing him. Get him a real DC and see how that works
I can agree with you on the DC. But it's a reason all other 31 teams said "no". And the one's that did are winning now.

I like the dude and his offense for sure. Would love to see him get a chance to pick his own DC and ST’s coaches. Or at least be in on the conversation
Again. Not his offense. It's Dak. Dak's offense always averages near 30 or above his whole career-nearly. So? how can we say it's Schotty when it's always been this way??? Where Schotty fails-just like where Garrett failed. Team preparedness. In game adjustments. getting out coached in key games.

We saw a ton of motion and an actual running game. That was way different. That’s not just Dak.

The question you should be asking is what does the O do if they don’t have to drive 80 yards each time they have the ball? The D is the worst unit in all of football.

Is this really true? Memory fails (and I'm too lazy at the moment to consult ChatGPT), but it doesn't seem that long ago that our offense couldn't score a TD in the red zone, and had to rely on FGs to keep us in games? (FYI, I don't lay that old issue solely at Dak's doorstep...even though he has improved certain aspects of his game a lot.)

What I wonder is: Why does our defense perennially stink..save for one deceptively-good year under Dan Quinn, when the offense couldn't get out of its own way?

Jerry, salesman that he is, strikes me as an offense-first guy. Lots of TDs sell tickets. Teams that grind out 10-7 victories are less entertaining.

I recall two, franchise-altering, free agency acquisitions on defense by Jerry. Charles Haley, and Deion Sanders. (And Jerry couldn't wait to use Sanders on offense, too. )

I have no strong opinion of our coach yet. Too soon. One small thing stands out to me. It may mean nothing. It's my opinion that this team has no business being 8-8, or anywhere near it with one of the worst defenses in NFL history. There were a few games there where teams stopped scoring. They could have put up more.

Oh and, we're not 8-8 yet. I don't think we're beating the Giants.

I know, right?

It took a real football man, a savant like Jerry Jones, to see the greatness every other football man throughout the entirety of BS's career failed to see.

For those keeping score, we have the best GM, best HC and Best QB in the league.

To “change culture” you need a HC who prioritizes winning and discipline AND has real authority

Schotty does not have real authority so no matter how much he wants to “change culture” he cannot do it
