Why is Brandon Weeden getting a free pass?

Weeden couldn't beat an exceptional Cardinals team last season. But the last three games I say Weeden gives the Cowboys a better chance of winning than Cassel does. Cassel had an 80-yd kickoff return and got lucky on the Hail Mary due to Dez Bryant, and he still could NOT beat the Eagles!

Weeden is trash man. He doesn't make any plays. Cassel sucks too, but at least he tries to win games he's just incapable of doing because of that slow delivery combined with a weak arm. The reality is Weeden cost win because he takes no chances. Cassel can't win because he makes too many dumb mistakes. Good news is they're playing another terrible team in Tampa Bay. Nowhere near as explosive as the Eagles.

Cassell isn't much better but at least he is willing to throw more than 5 yards down field

With an arm like Weeden's, why doesn't he throw downfield? Is it the play-calling, or was no one open deep with no Dez Bryant in the lineup? In Cleveland, Weeden had the worst wide receivers in the history of the NFL (except for the oft-suspended Josh Gordon), and the worst number one draft pick running back in NFL history with Trent Richardson. But with Josh Gordon in the lineup and Weeden throwing to him, Gordon set NFL records in receiving yards. Weeden threw a 98-yard TD pass to Josh Gordon!
