Why is Clutts active and Ryan Williams on the PS?

I don't get it.. Clutts ain't being used.. If Murray goes down Randle is the backup.. Who by the way was outplayed by Williams.. I also think Garrett should sit Murray for a while if the fumblitis continues.. With Murray's contract expiring shouldn't they see what they have with Williams?

I think this topic has been beat to death. Randle is a special teams beast and understands pass protection better than Williams. A 3rd/4th RB job is to be great at special teams and to be ready to play if called upon due to injury. The hate that Randle gets is a little crazy. Remember Ryan Williams cleared waivers for a reason and injury depleted teams have not tried to sign Williams (chargers, panthers, baltimore).

it's simple, Clutts is a fullback and plays special teams, Williams is a running back and doesn't play special teams, in order to have Williams on the roster, you need to cut someone on the 53 man roster...and you're not dressing four running backs on game day and the fact Murray is a better runner and blocker than any back on this team, you're not benching him and in short yardage, and goal line situations, you want a fullback, not another running back in Williams who wouldn't dress on game day anyway...

Who cares.

When will the guy play?

It's not like Randle is playing bad.

I also think that if he was so much better than 21 he'd be on someone's roster.

Everyone was in a hurry to replace Randle that they latched on to the first guy that came around.

Because Ryan Williams is really, really great. He's really freaking great.

That's why teams are lined up out the door - to sign the amazing talent we have on the bottom of the roster.

The folklore of Ryan Williams being some great running back is getting out of hand....almost as bad as all the hype Dunbar has gotten over the past 2 years

Won't be surprised if he gets called up soon especially if some needy RB teams come trying too take him away

I don't think Williams outplayed Randle.

The position responsibilities are different when you're a 2nd or 3rd string RB.

I like the FB for short yardage situations. Even though Clutts isn't very good, he's just enough to get in the way and allow us to get the first down on 3rd and 2.

I think our RB/FB situation is quite good at this point. If Dunbar learns to pickup blitzes better...they become the strongest unit on our team.

Exactly. Dunbar hasn't done squat. That's the guy they should look at replacing.

He's approaching Adrian Hamilton status as the Greatest of All Time while being on the practice squad.

He should be on the GameDay roster. I'd start him over murray after the fumbles. He's got better vision than murray. Murray just is better in pass protection. Williams is the better ball carrier, imo.

Dunbar doesn't call the plays and isn't responsible for being overlooked and generally ignored by the offensive scheme.

His biggest flaw is that he's been hurt.

There's a reason he was a second round pick. He's got all the tools. It's not like he's a scrub just because he's on the practice squad. He's very good ball carrier, if he can stay healthy.
