Okay. Which media loon described Romo as a "turd"? Dallas based? ESPN? Who?

When Brees consistantly win's in the playoffs, I'll start crowning him. Until them, both are the same to me.

I wanted the Boys to pick up Bress when the Chargers got rid of him

I wanted Dallas to move up in the draft and take him.

They moved up to take a quarterback several spots after Brees in the second round. I can't remember his name.

I don't think anyone in the media thinks Romo is a turd. Brees deserved credit for his really impressive year last season especially in the good games he played. I do think he skated on any criticism for his bad games he had in the Saints 8 losses. He played poorly in some of those games and was as responsible for those losses as were his teammates. I really never heard him criticized at all for that. I like Brees and think he is one of the best QBs in the game, but he is not perfect. He also makes some mistakes.

In the Saints 8 losses in 2008:
218 completions
363 attempts
60.1%
7.0 YPA
11.6 YPC
13 TDs
3.6% TD%
14 INTs
3.9% INT%
77.08 QB rating

Compare that to the Saints 8 wins in 2008:
195 completions
272 attempts
71.7%
9.3 YPA
13.0 YPC
21 TDs
7.7% TD%
3 INTs
1.1% INT%
121.80 QB rating

He was really good when they won, but mediocre when they lost. Romo is very similar.

In Dallas 5 losses with a healthy Romo in 2008:
116 completions
206 attempts
56.3%
6.1 YPA
10.9 YPC
9 TDs
4.4% TD%
7 INTs
3.4% INT%
75.02 QB rating

I think most people would not know that Romo threw interceptions less frequently than Brees did in games that their teams lost.

Actually, I think Drew Brees is underrated.
Howso? Most everything I've read or heard suggests he's one of the 3 or 4 best in the game right now.

I am SO tired of this crap. Romo does not talk about who he dates or what he does. He doesn't even do many interviews period. If he goes and plays in a pro-am or goes to a concert and the media report on it endlessly does not mean a damn thing about him putting himself out there. It's his life to go places and do things like any other human being.

Romo gets as much positive pub as any QB in the league. I don't get the paranoia. He puts himself out there with dating celebrities but it has nothing to do with the love he gets from the media on playing football.

You were right until the latter part of your reply. He is free to date whomever he wants; its his personal life.

But yeah - many Cowboy fans are too sensitive to the negative comments.

You so crazy.

Actually, for a team like ours with an inconsistent o-line and a running game that you can't really depend on, Romo is probably about as good as you're going to find. We need a guy who can make something out of chaos on a somewhat regular basis.

But as I've said before, if I'm starting a team tomorrow and building around a franchise QB, I'd choose Aikman. Absolutely no question.

Eh, I think Romo is a much better fit with this team's chemistry.

So you agree with me. :D

Pretty much, Ozzu. Like you said, when things break down, Romo can make something out of nothing. Not to mention, it's a different game today than it was back then.

On a side note, I firmly believe that Aikman has Romo envy. He can't stand to see a guy out there with as much talent as he once had.

I don't believe Aikman is envious of Romo in any way except the fact that Romo is still playing. As a matter of fact, there's no reason for him to be. Aikman achieved the best you can achieve in team success (Super Bowls) and the best you can achieve in individual success (Hall of Fame).

Plus, they're supposedly friends and play golf together.

Brees had an incredible game yesterday but let's remember who he was playing against folks. The Lions were dead last in defense last season while the Bucs were 9th. In 2008, the Bucs were 4th against the pass while Detroit was 27th.

As impressive as Brees' performance was yesterday, Romo's was more impressive IMO, because he was facing a significantly better defense.

It was sort of a joke, but sort of not. I just say that because of how Troy seems to get really excited during Eagles games and forgets the Cowboys have talent too. No, I'm not trying to start and Aikman debate, it was a just a joke. But I do stand by my opinion and I think Romo is just as good of a quarterback as Aikman was. However, in terms of golf, Romo would squash Aikman. :)

[sarcasm]

well we all know that when Brees makes plays, its because he's shredding defenses and threading the needle, and when Romo makes plays its solely because of busted coverage.

It always amazes me when people say Romo and Brees are so much alike, when they're actually at the opposite ends of the spectrum. Romo throws longer passes more than anyone else in the NFL, while Brees throws far more screens and dumpoffs than anyone else.

Theyre the same player right now, except Brees is beloved and Romo hated.

Maybe Romo needs a birth mark on his face that looks like Rhode Island
That's the easiest question to answer I have ever read. He's the Dallas Cowboys QB. It goes with the territory. Have the two switch places and most NFL fans would absolutely LOATH Drew Bress. You see the same thing in college as well. I hear people trash Jimmy Clausen all the time. Why? He's the QB for Notre Dame. Put him at USC and fans would adore him. It's just the way it is.
