Theyre the same player right now, except Brees is beloved and Romo hated.

Maybe Romo needs a birth mark on his face that looks like Rhode Island

Because he was in my CHEM 115 class and got an A but never showed up to labs.

You're crazy.

I'd take Tebow and shuttle him and Buehler in at QB; and win Super Bowls.

You can keep Aikman.

LOL, that's thee dumbest thing I've ever read here.. Your Tebow will be a complete failure as an NFL quarterback, typical classic college Qb that willl need to switch to HB or tightend in the pros, He's not a pro QB, period...

It always amazes me when people say Romo and Brees are so much alike, when they're actually at the opposite ends of the spectrum. Romo throws longer passes more than anyone else in the NFL, while Brees throws far more screens and dumpoffs than anyone else.

I agree. Brees racks up huge numbers by throwing a million passes and everyone is in awe, but most of those passes are dump offs and short stuff. Not saying he isn't a very, very good QB but let's keep things in proper perspective folks.

What choice does he have? With no defense the team needs to score in 40's every game to win.

Some of you guys kill me.

Tony Romo was inserted into the starting lineup in 2006.

He has been named to the Pro Bowl 2 times, signed a very lucrative contract, dates hot chicks and is always on television.

If that's not a God, I don't know what is :D .

Who hates Romo?

Exactly... These threads are ridiculous. Look at me.

Both are top notch QBs. Someone else already pointed out the slight difference. Playoff wins... Hopefully Romo will get one or more before it's all said & done. A Lombardi or two would be nice.

Anyone who says Brees gets by on the short dink and dunks haven't seen him play enough. He makes Lance Moore and Robert Meachem look like studs, NOT the other way around....and yes...Marques Colston IS underrated by many. I'm not saying he's better than Romo, necessarily, but he's a top 3-4 QB in the league.

I've seen him play plenty. I've also seen his Yards Per Attempt.

At what point in his career has Robert Meachem looked like a stud?

Okay. Which media loon described Romo as a "turd"? Dallas based? ESPN? Who?

No one seems to know who called Romo a "turd" fourteen hours later. It's almost as if two fans got together, one got offended that the other said Romo was a "turd" and decided that starting a thread on CowboysZone was the appropriate reaction...

I didn't read through the entire thread, but I'll take a stab at the OP' question.

1.) Brees doesn't have a penchant for turning the ball over (INT or fumble) at the most critical points of a game.

2.) Brees has actually had post-season success on at least SOME measurable level.

3.) Brees is the SOLE reason that his team is competetive.

4.) He keeps his team in the hunt despite a defense that resembles swiss cheese on an annual basis (though last year was a crapper).

5.) The popularity of fantasy football is at an all-time high and Drew Brees is at the top of the QB heap.

6.) He challenges every passing record every year with a legitimate chance to break them.

Now, whether or not people like the fact that Brees is considered the better QB is irrelevant. Above are many of the reasons he's held in higher regard than Romo throughout the NFL community and by fans.

Good post. However, I question whenever someone makes the allegation that there is a significant or huge chasm exists in Romo and Brees as quarterbacks. Being better doesn't necessary mean that it's by leaps-and-bounds.

I agree totally. The difference between Brees and Romo is, actually, really negligible. Brees plays in a passing offense that would make Mike Martz blush. You see these astronomical numbers and think "Man, that guy's amazing!" I have no doubt that Romo would put up similar numbers in the same system.

To those that think they know (but really don't), they would say "Romo already played in Payton's system and didn't put up those numbers." The fact is, Parcells had reeled Payton in about as tight as he could. I remember when we were putting a whoopin on Denver on Thanksgiving. Payton was calling a great game. Parcells told Payton at half-time to dial it back and start controlling the clock. The Cowboys struggled to move the ball after that adjustment. We had "Payton-Lite". Brees has the real Payton
