Why Is Everybody So On Edge?

Dam fellas, I jump on her to scan the threads for any news updates from the day and almost every thread is just a dick measuring contest between posters and its like that in almost every thread, regardless of topic.

Be it about Dak, Zeke, free agency, the salary cap, NFL honors, Michael Irvin, Jerry Jones, the SuperBowl, the Eagles, team building, the draft, the coaches, etc...

It instantly turns into nothing but one poster or group of posters going after another poster or another group of posters and stuff like "you aint a real fan, you are stupid, you are a miserable hater and I cant imagine living my life like that, go find another team, Dak sucks, no Dak is the greatest, Moore was the entire reason this offense was good, no he wasnt you are just a Moore jock rider because you hate Dak, the Eagles are the blueprint on how to properly build a team, no they are not, they just got lucky and you are too busy riding their jock to realize it, and on and on and on........

If somebody does not agree with you, it doesnt mean they stupid, they are not a "real fan", they need to go root for another team, they are a hater, they have a miserable life, ect. Everybody here is a Cowboy's fan and wants to win a SB, we just all have different opinions on how best to accomplish that goal and yes, that can sometimes be different from your opinion or how you would do things.

Can we at least have some civil discourse and debate without the personal attacks and insults? Maybe I just need to take a break from this site for a while until things settle down, I am sure somebody will respond, "yeah, get out of here you fake fan", LOL.

The frustrating part for me is that it’s the same old arguments and comments over and over and over.
To anyone who’s been on this site for even one weekend, it’s absolutely clear how people fear about Dak, Zeke, the receivers, the OL, and Kellen Moore. But it’s like arguing finances or your consumption with your wife; the same things get said ever dang day, even when it has nothing to do with the current conversation.

I can start a thread about the Upcoming draft and another one about the art in the Cowboys building, and I can assure you someone from one side will post “the draft and players don’t matter as long as we have a garbage QB” or someone from the other side will post “I’m not really into art, but I’m sure so and so will blame Dak.”

Surely the guys making all the little snide negative QB comments when the QB isn’t the topic, saying nothing new, and the guys making preemptive strikes thinking it will support Dak, again when Dak is not the topic, must realize how stupid they sound repeating stances and opinions that we are all aware of. It’s like they just want attention on them instead of the topic at hand.

Most do not care for this time of the year when it is colder and it causes the old arthritis to make the joints hurt.

Some have some kids in the neighborhood that are constantly running on their property so they have to open the door and yell out....STAY OFF MY LAWN!

When they have to drive somewhere they have to deal with idiots going slower than them and maniacs driving faster than them.

Your favorite sports team poops the bed in the playoffs and you are now just waiting for the draft.

It's all about the numbers. Put this many of us at a camp and there will be some arguments that escalate into fights, that's just human nature. The larger the gathering, the better odds for discourse.

It's like mixed vegetables. Ya know, I like mixed vegetables but sometimes I do not like the lima beans, the texture throws the taste off but I do like lima beans on their own when I am in the mood for them.

And there's another side to this, the entertainment value. Some of the funniest stuff on here is from posters really bent. I've always thought the old DC.com and CZ were at their humorous and sarcastic best after a loss. And I do come here for the laughs and entertainment.

Personal insults are different and can catch fire; however, there are times when I have to delete one or warn someone and I will think 'damn, that was a good one,I gotta remember that one'.

Our forum is just like the real world, the real problem started when we started taking all of this stuff seriously. Serious people annoy me. And some downright scare me.

Ya know the worst part about being a moderator? Having to get involved when I used to just sit back and watch the sparks fly and actually give grades to snappy comebacks. I loved a good cyber scuffle but now being a responsible adult, I have to try and head it off at the pass.

here's an idea, instead of benching them, just let the post in the unicorn section for a day, week, or month. That would be the only place they could post. lol, that should be fun.

Actually, it's pretty simple....and not necessarily in this order:
1. Dak interception issue
2. Lack of confidence that Dak and the offense can get better
3. Kellen Moore fans upset
4. Comparison of TRomo's same or similar negative moments resurfacing.
5. Zeke not gone yet
6. Our team is watching again, with the rest of the league on Super Bowl Sunday
7. Dak's money, before any extension or restructure has been discussed.
8. Zeke willing to discuss a reasonable pay discount is not enough for the Salary Capologists or most on the board for FO to entertain. See #5.
9. Kellen leaving disrupts the "HC in wainting" Program.
10. Dak winning the NFL's Man of the Year.

I’m not complaining. We had an amazing year all things considered. Mike is a good coach and when his QB isn’t getting it done he’s decided he needs to take over to try and fix him. We also retained DQ. A lot to look forward to with a new offense.

Some of the “anger” problems we seem to have on this site often come from these avoidable prototypes:

• The need to always be “right” in their evaluations/opinions folks. The “I’m right and you’re wrong” crowd gets a lot of folks here in trouble. Wish we could just throw down opinions and let people agree or disagree. (A little secret for all of us- no one here is always right!)
• The “I’m an expert football guru and you’re not” fan- a step above the “I’m always right” guys are the self proclaimed “experts“ who have the arrogant air of their opinions being not only “right” but obviously right, lol. Often bully fans who are just having fun.
• The “You’re a hater and I’m the ultimate decider of who the haters are”- no explanation necessary. I hate the term “hater” because it’s a lazy response.
• The “Us vs Them” crowd. Tribalism at its worst. Comes in multiple forms- “Dak Lovers”, “Dak Haters”, “If you like this guy, you’re an idiot”…etc, etc. Can’t allow anything in-between. (Like Dak has had some good games and he’s also cost us games- both can be right)
• The thought police- Accuse people of saying things they didn’t say or “if you have this opinion, you’re clearly not a Cowboys fan”. Can cause countless unnecessary arguments because of projecting what some “really meant” or deciding what’s an “acceptable“ opinion or not.

Bottom Line- we all need to respect each other as Cowboys fans. The diversity of opinions are EXACTLY what makes this place a fun and interesting place. Treat everyone like you would want to be treated.

Great point Bob, in the end someone's opinion is just that an opinion....Im more than happy to debate opinions because you get to see angles you dont see sometimes. If you feel like your being drug into "The War" then just exscuse yourself from the debate because in the end you will gain nothing if you or the person your debating is not open to the other side of the opinion. Case in point, i cant argue Cooper Rush, I'm not open to see the flip side so i just call the debate because I'm not willing to debate it, no need to drag it to fighting words.

Look at the level of discourse across the country. Why should this place be different? I wish it were but this is America right now.

This is the whole world over with the Internet, not just America. I know this personally as my family is originally from the sub-continent. I am not sure if that was your intent, but people acting like America is on the bottom of the pole in terms of civil discourse is nonsense. That are still among the top.
