Some older fans share strong opinions whose level of patience is wearing thin. Some others have more patience.
The ones trying to regulate how opinions should be shared are extreme imo.
I mean, freedom of speech and the exercising of how to express that right is a pretty sacred thing and all...

Just my opinion anyway.

We are PISSED because the owner of the team that we love has ruined this team for FAR TO LONG. We have put up with almost 30 years of being a shell of the once-great franchise that we were. As the clearly bad decisions continue to pile on we get more and more frustrated. There is one thing if the decisions are questionable, but a lot of the time lately they are just clearly wrong and made only for the financial gain of the Jones family. The only reason we get so mad is because we love the team so much.
That and watching one of two of your divisional rivals go to 7 super bowls this century winning 3 with a good possibility of a 4th tonight is frustrating.

I see a lot, too much, of "I don't post here as much or I don't come here as much" to which I say BS.

This is as much your forum and my forum as it is the ones that want to be negative and create a toxic atmosphere.

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."....Edmund Burke

Are you going to just give up, let the ones that want to create this atmosphere have their way? No one said this was going to be easy, it is your forum, fight for it with positive attitude.

Hey, you are just as responsible for keeping this place sane and enjoyable as they are for what they try to create. And some come for that express purpose, trash the forum because they don't like the Cowboys or their fans.

I have a proprietary feeling about this site, just as I did the old DC.com, and being a moderator has nothing to do with it. I'll be damned if I am going to let anyone rain on my parade because this place is important to me. The members are important to me. And I depend on you to fight the good fight because this is a great place to gather.

Do not let the few ruin it for the many. There are too many quality members here to just give them any power.

And as usual, I should post my disclaimer about feeding the animals. Those that come here for reaction and to disrupt are the animals, don't feed them and they'll go away. They thrive on the attention, that is their food. Starve them out.
I once heard a wise old firefighter say this pearl of wisdom…”The fastest way to stop a fire is to simply take away all the oxygen. All fires die without oxygen”. The oxygen on this forum happens when people argue and insult, name call and attack. It just spreads the fire.

So I wish more of our members who get annoyed by comments or threads they don’t like would just not give those threads or comments any oxygen. Move on to something you like or to a thread where you can disagree without getting into an argument.

Coach, like you said, this is a great place. And like you, I refuse to let keyboard bullies, trolls and hot heads rule this place. Probably 99% of the fans here are wonderful people I consider friends. If we all stop giving oxygen to those that are toxic, we have the kind of positive power that beats the negative.

Yep, older fans who know what the Cowboys used to be, which was a well run team, are pretty frustrated with the current front office.

Dam fellas, I jump on her to scan the threads for any news updates from the day and almost every thread is just a dick measuring contest between posters and its like that in almost every thread, regardless of topic.

Be it about Dak, Zeke, free agency, the salary cap, NFL honors, Michael Irvin, Jerry Jones, the SuperBowl, the Eagles, team building, the draft, the coaches, etc...

It instantly turns into nothing but one poster or group of posters going after another poster or another group of posters and stuff like "you aint a real fan, you are stupid, you are a miserable hater and I cant imagine living my life like that, go find another team, Dak sucks, no Dak is the greatest, Moore was the entire reason this offense was good, no he wasnt you are just a Moore jock rider because you hate Dak, the Eagles are the blueprint on how to properly build a team, no they are not, they just got lucky and you are too busy riding their jock to realize it, and on and on and on........

If somebody does not agree with you, it doesnt mean they stupid, they are not a "real fan", they need to go root for another team, they are a hater, they have a miserable life, ect. Everybody here is a Cowboy's fan and wants to win a SB, we just all have different opinions on how best to accomplish that goal and yes, that can sometimes be different from your opinion or how you would do things.

Can we at least have some civil discourse and debate without the personal attacks and insults? Maybe I just need to take a break from this site for a while until things settle down, I am sure somebody will respond, "yeah, get out of here you fake fan", LOL.
Yes. People here act very juvenile. At least some do. It gets old.

Well said. There’s no sense in that type of behavior at all.

I live in Naples, Florida now. I don’t get on edge, I jump in my boat and go fishing, swimming, cruise to Keewaydin or Marco Island, and drink. The sun is almost always shining. 10-15 minutes of rain a day during the rainy season, then sunshine again. I dine on shrimp, crab, snapper, grouper, hogfish, and pompano. I go to the range and shoot in a state that respects the Second Amendment. Life is good. Even the Eagle fans are chill down here. It’s paradise.

Why is the fan base edgy? border line angry? Welllll....start with nearly three decades of the team accomplishing very little overall and next to nothing in the playoffs. And did you hear what Jerry Jones said about the Eagles at the Senior Bowl? His dumb comments about how they run their franchise? Deja vu stuff. Picking up with dumb comments and silly stuff right where he left off last off season. This stuff got old about 25 years ago. Now it is sickening.

Have you considered many of us 'old men' are fed up with Jerry and spawn wasting almost 30 years of our adult lives? I was 30 years old the last time the franchise won anything significant and now I'm only 2 and a half years away from 60. Let that sink in....

Actually, I quit caring a long time ago. Coming on here is mostly just a time wasting activity when I get bored with Netflix.

Dude is awful. Only his 3rd super bowl in 4 years? What a friggin' loser....
Yes, because the other three choked. Very likely do it again today also. Period.

Sure it’s just football and the wins and losses certainly don’t effect our everyday lives. But on the other hand the clown owner completely sucked the joy out of a favorite past time.

A big one is the older generations focus more on wins & championships versus the younger generations focus on stats.

The younger generations would state the players they like: Romo/Dak and Lebron were/are better players than Staubach/Aikman and Jordan because of some regular season stats.

Then kids and boomers insults are thrown around.

The young NBA fans call the 80s/90s players unathletic plumbers and janitors rubbing the older fans the wrong way.

Then you have some younger local people on radio calling the use of a heavy run game… old 1990s way of things when the last time the Cowboys won a championship was in the 1990s

So a big question is: are current players focused more on their regular season stats, personal pay (being the highest paid), and social media influence instead of winning championships?

Maybe this is part of the country club country Jimmy Johnson mentioned with the Cowboys and a big part for why the team has not won a divisional playoff game since the 1990s.

I tend to take an hiatus from this forum after the Super Bowl is played. As I know that every offseason in which the Cowboys fail to get to the Super Bowl or gets eliminated in the playoffs is just going to have a majority of the same predictable negative threads and posts. Taking a break from this forum and becoming mostly active again around the time the next regular season starts, is what works best for me, as I rather do that than to spend all offseason constantly engaging in negative topics and threads.

So I'll be lurking some on here during the offseason. But will most likely not be active again until the 2023 regular season starts.
