I don't have time to look right now but didn't Boniol hit 7 FGs against the Packers and we won 21-something?

It was the NFL record at the time.

I like Folk, would not cut him, but his poor play has larger implications for the team as a whole. It changes the mindset of the coaches who don't have faith in him and obviously there are major game results with missed field goals. I would hope something would be done in the short term to help him out and more importantly help the team out, even if it is Buehler kicking for a game, but that could easily be just as bad.

What really concerns me is the huge impact having your kicker in a slump brings to a team struggling to make the playoffs and the seeming lack of action on the part of the managment to address the issue. There always seems to be either a bad, a band-aid type response, or a go overboard nuts response to problems, here they changed the holder. Maybe that was the best option avaliable, probably is, but after a 13 year play-off drought the managment just does not have any credibility to burn with the fan base, IMO.

You people are amazing. Folk is not an NFL quality kicker right now, never mind Pro Bowl! He has one job to do and he hasn't done it for weeks. If you don't want to cut him, IR him and let him try again next preseason, but he is killing this team right now. You don't think driving the field only to come up totally empty once he misses doesn't affect the psyche of the team?

You don't think the coaching staff making every excuse in the book for him and blaming the holder that clearly wasn't the problem doesn't send a certain message? A lot of you have the exact same loser, excuse-making mentality as the coaching staff. :p:

1. Because there's no better option out there, especially with a short work week. To paraphrase Parcells, there's no 1-800-Kickers to call.

2. Folk is clearly in a slump. That doesn't mean he won't snap out of it. He's proven his quality, so it might be better to let him work his way back.

3. Jimmy cut expendables. Folk may not be in that category.

This isn't Madden. NFL-quality talent is hard to find.

1. we don't need to call anyone we have 2 kickers

2. How much longer are we going to let his slump hurt the team while hoping he'll snap out of it?

3. He might never snap out of it, who knows? seems to me that's something you figure out in the offseason not on Sundays when we still have a shot (very long shot) of making the playoffs

If he can bring back Folks pre-surgery leg with him that would help.

1. Let's see -- 2 kickers. One of whom has been a quality kicker in the past and one who was mediocre and hasn't practiced FGs in months. Folk is the smarter choice at this point.

2. True, kickers are flaky. VanderJagt was great till he came to Dallas and wasn't. But if you don't have a clear path to helping the team by cutting Folk, you keep him. Period. It's not about guessing about the length of his slump. Maybe some miracle kicker will appear in the next couple weeks, like in the movies. But this is real life, and if that guy were around, the Commanders would have signed him after they cut Suisham.

3. Not figure out on Sundays? Ummm that's exactly my point: you don't cut Folk on a short week when you have a must-win game if you can't replace him with something better right now. You've just blown your entire argument to pieces.

1. What you did in the past means nothing this season, when is this fanbase and team going to get that trough their heads? keeping him active cause he used to be good is stupid when even mediocre is a step up

2. I'm not saying cut folk i'm saying sit his *** down he's hurting the team which even a blind man could tell you

3. Having a kicker who's 2-8 keep kicking in the hope that he snaps out of it is stupid when we're still in the playoff hunt. Repeating the same actions and expecting different results is the very definition of insanity.
This is the time for action if we want to save the season not wishful thinking. If Buehler hits just 50% he's an upgrade he can't possibly be any worse then Folk.
Figure out what to do with Folk in the offseason don't kill our season hoping he'll snap out of it. i could go 2-8 the reason i'm not kicking in the NFL is cause 2-8 isn't good enough, even at the college level that's not good enough

This is why Wade wont be here next year. He lacks BALL S! Thank you nick folk for the game at buffulo in 07 but goodbye, the cowboys cant use you anymore. We win against the chargers if he makes that FG, because we would have gone for a FG instead of forcing MB3 to run on 4th down on the one yard line. No confidence in folk anymore, we have to force it on 4th instead of giving beuhler a shot?

Why is he still here!!!!!! Jimmy johnson would have his arse.

Umm wasnt his missed FG after the Missed 4th down try

I thought it was against the Giants...but yes.

Didn't he then sign with the Egals for like a million a year and bomb?

Where in what you just quoted did i say fire him?, if your going to give ******** replies at least have the common sense to actually read what you're replying to.

And it's not so much hope that you find someone better as it is common sense, kinda like saying i hope this dried up sandwich tasted better then the piece of poo that used to be a delicious cake i just ate

Here's the key to your wrong-thinking: Buehler "can't possibly be worse then [sic] Folk."

Why yes. Yes, he certainly can. Maybe not in your imagination, but in real life he could miss up to and including 100% of his FG tries. That would be worse.

And that "Repeating the same actions and expecting different results is the very definition of insanity" quote is endlessly misused: no Cowboy fan wants Folk to "repeat the same action". That would mean making a bad kick. We want a different action: an accurate kick. That different action is what provides the different result: 3 points.

i've given up having intelligent conversations with people who say "why is nick folk still here" in the subject line then deny they wanted him fired when their abject stupidity was called out.

see - you don't even know what you want.

why is he still here? but i don't mean fired. then i'll talk about putting him on IR for an injury that isn't around, but it's ok, we'll try to figure out next year what's up.

not *my* fault you're all over the map homeslice.

common sense - so far it seems like you should be banned from using that phrase.

Well lets use that logic for a while just for fun, if replying to a thread with that subject is the same as coming up with the subject then why don't you tell me why you want Folk fired

You wanna talk about being all over the place i'm not the one here trying to twist your words trying to explain a stupid reply
