Why Is Garrett Doing Interviews If There Is A Succession Plan?

I thought Redball was suppossed to be heir apparent after learning the ropes from Wade for a couple of seasons. There is even suppossed to be some sort of succession plan according to Mort.

It this is true, why is Garrett interviewing with Falcons, Ravens, ect....

What if Atlanta offers him the keys to the franchise and a map to the lost city of gold?

I just dont want to go back to that conservative, play-not-to-lose offense before Redball was here.

I gotta admit that I am a bit at unease about the raiding going on. But there is no way in hell that Garrett is going to the Falcons; I hear he's quite bright.

A succession plan violates the league mandated Rooney Rule which applies to coaches, so if there is a succession plan we have to keep up appearances that there isn't.

If Garrett accepts a head coaching job he has no experience. Who is he going to lure to Atlanta to to work with the well known Jason Garrett. Troy Aikman and Buck as co OC (the way they talk about him, you'd think they have a place in his staff already)? e-dunce as DC? Half the staff he is familiar with is getting raided by parcells, while the other half is getting fired by parcells. He will have to hire people he doesn't really know or doesn't trust.

Hes not even parcells groomed so hes not very popular other then media generated hype. Hes not experienced enough to evaluate personnel yet. He likes it too much here, is probably loyal to jerry, and has just installed a new offense. Id like to think he wouldn't do that to the players and abandoning them, and I'd like to think he wouldn't do that to Romo being a QB himself.

That being said, Atlanta would be a good candidate as they just hire and draft based on ticket sales and big names. Blank needs help, but he should not be looking at Garrett before a GM.

He's not the heir apparent. He's just another assistant coach hired to do a job.

It's called establishing the market. He can tell Jerry what the offer is and go from there.

There is no succession plan. Garrett is as good as gone. Time to face reality. He's not going to wait around for Wade to retire/fired.

So then what is the deal with the Commanders and the heir apparent(in his contract??) with Greg Williams?

Im glad that JAson came to Dallas and he has done a good job. I personally think that through the course of the season he was up and down on his play calling. Example just recently, Eagles game- they were down by 4 points-- 4 points-- your quarterback is playing like crap, and he has a banged up thumb. And he completely abandons the running game. Bang the Barberian 25 times and I'll accept the loss. Did anyone notice that down the strecth when TO was shutdown those couple of games, that he stopped moving TO around. He started leaving him wide right or left and that was it. TO started getting triple teamed. When TO was really rolling GArrett was lining him up wide right/ left then motion him off, lining him up in the slot, in the backfield, etc.

Dont forget the ROMO factor, he would make a lot of coaches look like a genuis. Did Garrett call the play, Romo fake right- then juke left, duck and throw a bomb to TO-- reeeaaadddyyy Break. Does anyone think that Bellick would be a Genius if He was coaching those exact same teams with SAY DREW LEADSOE.

THe guy that scares me leaving is Jeff Ireland, and Jerry 'the Football Genius and talent evaluator extrodaniare' Jones coming back then using a first round pick to get some player from Northeast Western Mississippi Northern Valley State and then all then ESPN analyst go uuuuuhhhhhhh, lets go to commercial and we'll discuss the Boys pick.

Although I love the job JG has done this year I will say that he had a pretty darn good offense when he got here. We had a good offense last year but we just weren't utilized properly.

Anyone who hires JG this year is really putting all their eggs in one incomplete season. There are too many unkowns with JG to hire him as a headcoach. His track record is too small for me at least and if he does get hired this year, the playoffs and how the offense looks will go a long way in determining what type of offers he gets.

If we come out flat in the playoffs, all of the last few regular season games now become an issue and factor into the picture and may cool off some of the teams persuing his services as HC. If we come out firing on offense and play like we did earlier in the season, then the offers will come hard and fast because this will be brought up during the game (especially if Troy and Buc do the game) almost as much as the play on the field.

If JG leaves, I think the up coming draft and any trades made will go a longer way in determining how much of a drop off (if any) this team will suffer on offense next year. I also believe that JG is going to make his bones by taking a lesser talented team and making his magic work. I wouldn't mind keeping him here another year but his real body of work will begin when his name is on the line and the buck stops with him.

If he leaves, I wish him all the best because he will always be a Cowboy until he plays against us!!! If he stays I'm happy as hell.

Just some thoughts.

No one wants to hire Greg Williams.
:laugh2:
It's not a foregone conclusion that Garrett is gone. He's testing the waters and gauging the market. I think the only team that has a realistic chance of hiring him is the Ravens, because he does have some strong ties there because of his father.

I know that silly.... :laugh2:
I just remember hearing that Greg got extra money and a clause or some nonsense in his contract to take over as HC.

I dont think he is going either. But if Arthur Blank wants payback for Petrino... then who knows.

I think Garrett is just doing the "smart business move" to let Jerry know... HEY... I AM IN DEMAND...
