Why is Garrett on NBC?

A total clown! Him talking up the Gents as well when they fired him for having the worst offense in football just a year ago.
He should be talking up the Giants, they’re playing good football and Daniel Jones has developed into a good QB. The Giants were the only team to win a playoff game on the road this weekend. He was talking up the Cowboys earlier in the season when they were playing consistent football despite them firing him. He’s being paid to be objective and give honest opinions.

NBC and Dungy might be in a little trouble with some comments or some people that Dungy is associated with. Not a good look for him or NBC
I missed that one. Who’s he associated with?

I could do without most of the studio clowns doing NFL coverage these days. Just keep Maria Taylor on board, please.
All these so called clowns played the game or coached the game. You wouldn’t have a problem with any of them if they were cheerleading the Cowboys all the time. I’m interested in hearing objective opinions from knowledgeable football experts rather than looking at a pretty face who’s been hired simply because she can talk and looks good.

Other than sounding a little like Dick Vitale, Garrett has done a good job on NBC. He’s definitely an upgrade over Drew Brees. Fans here can’t stop hating on him because of his coaching tenure with the Cowboys. Notice how no one ever hates on Jimmy Johnson here? Lol if Jimmy says anything positive about any of the Cowboys divisional rivals, no one ever complains about it here.

Having played or coached the game is not a prerequisite for providing solid studio analysis. Many of the "expert" studio heads are awkward at best in front of the camera and numerous others cheerlead to the point of coming off like they have a stake in the outcome. So, no, I do not want to hear cheerleading at any capacity, including for the Cowboys (Michael Irvin). I am so tired of opinion sans analysis, so yes I'll take that pretty face who by the way is a pretty damn good analyst.

I am very glad others see this. He is a total fraud. Nothing genuine or interesting about him.

Garrett is part of "the Club" that George Carlin talked about. Thus, he will continue to receive opportunities for jobs he has no qualifications or talent for.

Most in the studio have played or coached the game so it is a prerequisite. The only ones who haven’t played or coached the game are the studio hosts, sideline reporters and NFL insiders. In the broadcast booth the only one who hasn’t played or coached the game is the lead game announcer. Cris Collinsworth got his son a gig on NBC and he hasn’t played in the NFL but that’s about it. Who are the ones that are awkward in front of the camera that you’re referring to? No one is going to get a job talking NFL football that’s awkward in front of the camera.

There is an over kill of NFL ex-athlete/coach exposure and some ex Cowboys happen to be some of the more egregious personalities with NFL coverage. I guess I am just old school and prefer a lot less Simpsons and more Six O'clock News. I do like guys like Simms and Long, but the opinionated talking heads are too pervasive for me.

I read an article that said that Dungy isn’t who everyone thinks he is. It could be one guy’s opinion but I was surprised. In the article it said he was associated with a big time Pastor who is against certain people and Dungy has expressed and has sent money to support this. I can’t really say it because I don’t want to get into trouble but let’s just say I was really shocked by it. It had evidence also.

That’s pretty much the way it’s been for years, using former NFL players and coaches, and even former GM’s to provide expert analysis. No one knows the game the way they do because they’ve experienced it. A lot of former Cowboys players and coaches have gotten opportunities in the booth and in the studio because it pays to play for the Cowboys. I have no problem with any of it. I certainly wouldn’t want to see a studio full of people talking about NFL football that never played or coach the game. I wouldn’t want to be listening to a broadcast with no one in the booth who ever played the game at the NFL level. I get it that you’re not going to like everyone or agree with everyone but I want to hear objective opinions from those who played the game.

JG doesn't bother me being on NBC. If anything, his robotic nature actually makes me laugh. He obviously isn't cut to be an NFL coach, so good for him for landing that gig and maybe finding his better calling. I get it, he had about 5 years too many as coach in Dallas and we're all supposed to hate him here, but he doesn't bother me as an analyst.

I have felt the quality of the game broadcasts and studio analysis has been steadily declining. A lot of it has to do with over exposure and lack of quality personalities that fit that "NFL mold". I don't mind some balance in broadcast delivery with both NFL Insiders and outsiders. Being an ex coach or player is not going to necessarily translate into a applicable wealth of football knowledge suitable for broadcasting and could actually be a put off if the player or coach is not a great communicator (Witten) or has an axe to grind with just about every topic (Rex Ryan).

To each his/her own. My exposure to the likes of Brent Musburger with Irv Cross and Pat Summerall with Tom Brookshire forever shaped my perspective on what sports coverage should look like. I do like Simms with Cowher and Johnson with Long, but there is just too much noise getting air time with those productions. Same with the booth coverage; I find half the team of the some of the big headliners to be unbearable i.e., Romo and Buck.

Been at this for over 50 years, so I have long learned to adapt. Doesn't mean I am going to like it.

Why would anyone at NBC think its a good idea to add that dude? He's a few resistors away from beign a literal robot. Hearing him talk about Purdy, a rookie QB in the playoffs made me laugh. He literally had the same thing with Dak and couldn't do squat with it. Sorry, I guess I'm venting. Wasted 10 years of my life with him on the sidelines, and I think he's a big reason we're all always expecting the wrost.
You'd think he'd be embarrassed, Giants offense better without him and our team too!

I don't mind him at all, he gives objective opinion and is way better than Payton or Brees. I wish him a long broadcasting career, as long as he is no where near an authority position with the Cowboys im happy :)

Just like all of his jobs the question is " what has he done that is constructive " ? All he does for NBC is smile for the camera .

He’s an excowboy if he had coach the Panthers he wouldn’t have been hired.
