I'm not knocking the guy because he's been through a lot but why is he on the field? At this point, he's a liability out there. He can't cut, and misses way too many tackles. Either that knee has cut his speed in half or the dude just can't play at this level. Is he playing because he was a stud in college? Is Garrett trying to get him used to the NFL while backs run around him? This isn't the time to be experimenting with LB's. I know he makes tackles, look at the position he's playing, but his tackles are after he's been juked and someone else is involved......Hitchens plays circles around Jaylon......If he were on any other team he wouldn't play at all.

I mean, he does have two sacks and 2-3 forced fumbles. He's made some plays.

And he almost had one of the most athletic interceptions from a linebacker I have seen.

A lot of pessimism this week from a team that has won 2 straight and a defense that has really been much improved since Lee has returned.

Young players play and they usually improve BTW.

The game is slowing down for him. With are LB Corp getting healthy he will be used at a frequency and role that suits his current development. We will be singing his praises by season’s end as he begins to trust his body more and let’s his instincts flow. I look forward to him blitzing more with olines keying on Tank and Irving.

I knew this thread wouldn't be popular but the guy can't run...sure he makes tackles but he should where he's playing. I'm just saying he's not the best player we have at that position...he won't be here long

He has made plays forced fumbles, basically playing in his rookie year and leads in tackles. He is more of a liability in the passing game, but over time with reps and catching up to speed while getting healthy he can only improve.

Jaylon Smith's play has taken a noticeable upturn since his reps have been diminished.

The workload that he was formerly assigned to was overly demanding for him to handle.

The worst thing we could do right now would be to bench him and impede his progress.
