Wasn't our offense ranked around number 11 or 12 by the end of the season?

I'm not concluding that our OL isn't a problem, but that seems to be the major problem, IMO. But I guess that's what happens when you lose your All-Pro LT, have a rookie 6th rounder starting at RT, a not entirely healthy RG, and lousy depth.

The complaints about injuries and depth don't hold much water for me. Show me the team in the NFL that has what would be considered outstanding depth on the offensive line? There are not many. So it comes down to fortune then? Or does coaching play a part in those instances where second and third string talent steps in to fill the void?

We chose where to stockpile depth. Cornerback and running back. We went thin, dangerously thin, on the offensive line. We started the season with players who ended up being released midseason and shuffled low grade talent in and out. That has to addressed this season.

Agreed.

But the point I was actually trying to make was that our offense was not as "ineffetive" as some claim.

As for our OL, I attribute the depth problem more to poor drafting than lack of trying.

This is potentially a disastrous decision if they promote a Todd Bridges or Anthony Soprano to OC.

Horrific.

2 seasons ago we let RCB, FS ruin the season week 1.

Last season we choked at filling FS, RT yet left $5M unspent.

Parcells - wake up and get an offensive mind in here to run our offense. Not some 8 year WR coach or a failed Offensive Line coach.....

who our OC will be. Yea, I know a few days ago Dallas media reported the two Todds were leading candidates for OC & DC. DC is out of play since Zimmer still here but why not officially announce OC. Also what does Parcells see in Sparano that we don't? It also possible we might lose our QB coach to Payton, but don't know if that matters or not. Do realize Parcells might think focusing his time on which of our players we should retain (Glover, Ellis, Keyshawn, Allen just to name a few) might rank more important to him then officially naming OC but we fans just are hungry for Cowboy news. Sure would be nice if they threw us a few tidbits rather then relying on media speculation.

Don't like news Skins might sign Saunders as OC at all. Admit Skins surprised me last season & Greg Williams defense did better then I expected; if they could add good DE pass rusher, they will be very difficult to beat--something we couldn't do last year. Addition of Saunders could have similar effect on their offense (couldn't do any worse then Gibbs), particularly if they can add a WR to complete Moss. If Moss (and Portis?) went to school with Wayne, Skins would have inside track to him if they have cap room.
Thats because Parcells is already the OC. Always has been, always will be.

I have to be honest, it's pretty hilarious to see that everyone knows who is and isn't qualified to be an offensive coordinator type here.

What it all means is he is confident in Zimmer...our next head coach by the way...running the defense and he will run the offense himself with a figure head, lame duck, flunky just like we had with Carthon and Payton.

I bet nobody on this forum could pick Sparano out of a lineup. We don't even know what he looks like, much less how qualified or not qualified he might be to be an offensive coordinator.

We do know the OL didn't do great last season, but was that his fault? Was it lack of talent? Was it age and injury? Was it our QB? We just don't know.

It really shouldn't be surprising that Parcells has an idea though. If he was loath to let Sparano go then you kinda have to think Bill thinks he's a pretty good coach.

Somebody had to post the pic :lmao2: What scares me is he looks like Andy Reid with less hair :D

If that happens -- and it's more likely now that Carthon and Payton have escaped -- then Jerry will go back to making all the personnel decisions.

Jerry desperately needs a coach that will stand up to him and challenge him on decisions. I don't think Zimmer is the lapdog (poodle) that Campo was, but I have a feeling Jerry will return to his personnel throne if Zimmer succeeds Parcells.

I just wonder about Frentz. He's a former assistant of Belicheck's which is basically a Parcells desciple. Not just any job will turn him but I wonder if he would consider the Cowboys if he got the call?

A lot depends on how well we do through the end of Parcells stay, if we keep improving and Zimmer is getting groomed, I think Jerry will continue to work with the coach.

Zimmer has more Parcells qualities than people give him credit for.

idk, but I know that Sparano coached Witten in '04, and he had one of the best years for a TE ever

why are people so against Sparano being our OC? that means he can't teach the Oline, and we'll probably find another Oline coach

This offseason will be like the last one....uneventful and painfully quiet until we sign 2-3 players about 2 weeks into the free agency period.

you know that we signed Bledsoe before the FA signing period, and Anthony Henry, Marco Rivera and Jason Ferguson within the 1st 2 days of the signing period beginning?

Parcells had to re-tool the ENTIRE roster, so I can understand why he left us a little thin in certain areas, but again, we were supposed to have 3 Pro Bowlers on the Oline and an up-and-coming C, after this year's performance from the line, you can bet Parcells won't leave it unaddressed

I think it just seems odd to reward someone whose unit was so incompetent last year - the captain goes down with the ship.
