Low income = Higher Crime Rates
People committing more crime are more likely to get shot by police.
It's not that complicated.
Preposterous is your concept that police decide to pull the trigger when the perpetrator is black but don't when the perpetrator is white.
You won't answer the question: Why are crime rates so extreme in the U.S. black population?
I in no way dismiss there are instances of police brutality and that a small percentage of police do not have the temperament or otherwise are unfit to wear a badge.
Despite these being just statistics, I suppose my post will be deleted. Nonetheless and in efforts to try and say something constructive, one must wonder how/why, out of so many injustices, a particular cause is chosen:
- 2016 instances of police killing blacks: 258, decrease of 19% from 2015
***************239 of those killed were carrying an illegal firearm
- 2016 instances of blacks killing blacks: 2380, increase of 8% from 2015
Where is the outrage here?
And I agree with your premise, low income translates to greater frequency of interactions with police. In turn, there's inevitably a minute percentage of chance for misconduct, brutality or a death. Poverty crosses all races though as well as contain this chance.
I will venture to say that minorities are more likely to be lower income and I believe is the driving factor behind these protests. It's not as much police brutality but what could be perceived as systematic suppression where minorities remain in poverty. That's something I can not dispute and wish would change.
I would like to think this is something everyone could join together and address.
IMO though, these protests are missing the real mark and aimed at the wrong target.
