If you are going to pick apart the Johnson choice at QB now that Romo is hurt, then shouldn't the real question be where is Chris Simms? Why wasn't he brought in and Bollinger sent to the practice squad?

I was on board for bringing in Simms for a backup. But I don't think Bollinger would be eligible for the practice squad at this point in his career (with multiple starts and years of playing in the league).

I thought Brad could be a mistake-free, conservative QB who can make a good decision on a throw here and there to move the chains. It's possible that still could be correct. I think we'll find out this week because Bollinger hasn't been here long enough for the coaching staff to use him over Brad yet. I would not be against playing Bollinger myself however.

I keep seeing these things about this guy...what has he done, and where did he come from, to make people think that he's got the ability to lead this team to a W?

I need to know cause I've never seen this guy play, that I'm aware of.

He's done very little to nothing. But with the way the offensive line has been playing, his mobility is a huge plus over Brad. Also his arm strength. However, unless Brad stinks it up really badly, we're not going to see him play.

I agree, however we have to have a short leash on Johnson, he stunk vs the Redslins last year and against the Rams last week, Bollinger is going to be the backup next year, so let's see if he has anything if we get into trouble by halftime.

Perhaps because Simms signed with the Titans the same day that Bollinger signed with the Boys, ol' buddy...

I can understand the anti-Johnson faction. But to leap from the frying pan into the fire with Bollinger is absurd.

Bollinger ain't that bad... at the very least, I sincerely believe he brings more to the table than Johnson does...

Like you, though, I wish the Boys had brought Simms in... you know that I called for them to sign Chris over and over and over again...

I'm really wondering if the pro-Bollinger contingent has ever seen him play.

Nope, I really can't say I have... but the numbers he put up in Minnesota are quite respectable...

So, why do you think he's so lousy??

IM almost positive he can throw the ball much harder and he is
way more mobil than brad. Brad was lucky he didnt throw 6 pics
that game vs the rams.
brad had no good throws.

The bigger question is "why was he even picked up at all" He really stinks!

Bollinger would be eaten alive this Sunday.

Johnson at least give you a fighting chance.

But if you wanna give up.... by all means.

At least give Bollinger a shot. How do you know unless you put him in for a little? Why just hand the job to Brad regardless of how he performs? Make Brad earn the job and know that he is one screwup away from sitting the bench.

I'm not so sure i want to see a player stuck behind Brad on the depth chart. He is where he is for a reason

Yeah, but is Brad where he is because of his past? If you were to put both of them side by side erasing any past whatsoever, would Brad still deserve to be ahead of him in the lineup?

You guys are better off starting Marion Barber at QB and running the Dolphins crazy Wildcat formation all day.

Bollinger was the QB of the Badgers for four years...Led Wisconsin to 30-12 record over that span, 3-0 in bowl games including a Rose Bowl...And took the school record for QB Rushing Yards, which I believe he still holds.

In the NFL he's backed up Pennington and Testaverde on the Jets...Won their most valuable player of the month award in December of 05...

He replaced Brad Johnson in a game when Brad threw 4 INTs, when both were playing for the Vikings...In that game Bollinger started out playing well but was injured and then replaced by Tarvaris Jackson. He missed all of the 06 season after the injury.

He was let go from the Vikings after competing with Gus Frerotte for the 3rd string QB spot.

He's 8-8 as a starter in the NFL, though, and has a 75 QB Rating.

But overall the guys still young and inexperienced, and one has to admit, his NFL time has been spent on crap teams...
