Haven't been impressed w/ our free agent LBer.....And Ernie Sims seems like he is really flying to the football.......

I think it's just a matter of time before Sims gets the call to start.

Durant seems to over run alot of plays...And has little clue on how to defend the read option.....

I wouldn't be shocked to see Durant get the ax come final cut downs so he contract isn't guaranteed.

Concussions. Its one of the biggest reasons why Sims can't be counted on.

He really shouldn't even be playing. 5 Concussions (those was just the official count) before he ever played a game in the NFL. More with the Lions. Yet another one with the Cowboys late last season.

He is the perfect example of a player who is putting is post-NFL future in serious doubt by continuing to play despite head injuries,

Sims seems like a better fit in this defense. Is is possible Durant might be a final cut?

I doubt it, we signed him with all intentions of starting him, so im sure he'll get EVERY oppertunity to do so to begin the season.

I see Sims taking over pretty quickly though if he doesn't win the job to start the year.. i think its pretty clear he's made alot more plays.

I'd be more than fine with Sims starting and Albright backing up.. save a few dollars that way, too.

I think the rookie might make a better backup than Albright. We'll see....

I dont mind having him as a backup as long as he stays, Durant does have 3 more games to seal the job or to lose it.

I doubt Albright even makes the squad. In a 3-4 he was a good tweener linebacker, capable of playing OLB or ILB in a pinch. In the 4-3 he just isn't strong enough to play end or fast enough to play LB. I think they'll keep Sims, Durant, and the rookie and Albright will be the odd man out.

100% truth. Amazing athlete but he won't remember any of his playing days by the time he hits 55.

No reason why both Sims and Durant can't man the LB position. Play them both. Go with the hot hand. The competition will make them better. Sub them in and out. Keep them fresh.

I don't see Albright making the team. I would be calling New Orleans about a possible trade. Never hurts to ask. Might get something. I see NO as the most likely place for Albright. Some 3-4 team will pick him up.

I wanted Sims to start at the end of last season. And I was disappointed when they signed Durant. They could've used that extra money to sign a better veteran safety than Will Allen. I predict safety to be a problem this year.

I agree, plus Alex Albright is capable of starting there too I believe, and McGee and Holloman should make the team so unless Durant turns it around and becomes a world beater, I think it makes sense to cut him

I love it that Sims is out-playing Durant right now...I expect Durant to win the starting job and if he does, it will be because he elevated his game to be better than Sims

I have said it 1,000 times (as many have), competition just makes everything better

I don't think you have to be fast to play SLB in the 43.. but his quickness compares to Holloman and Durant. Athletically, he's not a downgrade from either of them.

I agree, and the Cowboys are not shying away from making it a competition, letting both have time with the starting linebacker group Friday.

Durant has been a solid starter in the league for years. Sims, not so much. It is a good thing to have depth.

Isn't sims a WLB and durant a SLB?

And aren't they being evaluated as such by the coaches?
