Why not Cole Beasley?

no Jerry got rid of cooper for all the above his 20-22 miol 3 yr deal and his 800yards and handful of Tds and his disappearing acts in big games and road games and well hes no longer our wr1 anyway Lamb was last season.

schultz had good numbers and if Gallup stays upright his YPC catch and his passion like dez for the game and going after challenged balls in tight space says it was time to move AC with his cap savings. makes total sense. Was the 2 game absence the straw that broke the relationship, maybe but that not the only WHY.

all things considered it was the correct move.

They got fleeced in that trade.

I used to be a fan but the way he left showed he is a major tool. He can finish his career with another team.

Why is he a tool for telling the truth?

I mean half the threads on here are about the dysfunction of this organization. As a player, doesn't he have the inside knowledge of how things really are?

If he were saying things while all other evidence contradicted it, I could understand faulting him.

If the Cowboys went 1-16 three straight you’d claim it was what was best for the franchise.

One of the cowboys podcasts yesterday “the players lounge” was titled. “Addition by subtraction” and trying to make the argument that the cowboys are better now than they were going into the offseason.

LOL

I had to turn that garbage off after 5 minutes.

I just can’t with the cowboys organization this off-season. I just can’t.

the Jones’ are spreading more propaganda than Vladimir Putin right now. It’s gross.

You can probably do a search on this forum and see how many Dak-stans were telling us how the offense was going to take off with Beasley as the lead dawg, because Dez was no longer here, supposedly forcing first-read Dak to throw him the ball into coverage.

Especially after year 1, when Beasley had, at that point, a career high of 75 catches.

The narrative always changes with Dak-stans though. After Dez, Beasley was the problem, then the guy that saved Dak’s career Amari became the eventual scapegoat. How many WRs have been sacrificed at the altar of Dak? Slow ones, fast ones, short ones, tall ones, even arguably the best route runner in game all supposedly can’t get open…

Beasley had a ten year run as a decent slot receiver. He’s going into year 11.

He left with the intent of burning bridges.

Is it just the anti-vax position or did he burn a bridge here? He still is a walking first down on 3rd and 6. And would free up CeeDee and Gallup outside. Thoughts?
we need a big guy. not a midget slot receiver on the downside who also talked big smack on this team. I wouldnt want him back...... and Id take OJ Simpson if I thought he could help us win games.

He had the nerve to insinuate they were getting open and not thrown to before they got Cooper. The same reason Cooper is gone.

Thou shalt not cast a shadow upon the Chosen One.

The comical thing about this is even when Dak was saved by Amari, he still couldn’t find Amari against zone coverages. The numbers of Amari shot up in man, while Dak, actually got slightly worse against zone, as he continued to hold on to the ball and take the checkdown, avoiding any risks. So this idea that Amari lost a step can’t really be sustained.

It’s only been a top flight RG and OL that forced opposing teams to play so much man, but when that stopped this year, Dak had to throw more against zone and he was “exposed” to most people, even though plenty already knew.

Inconsistent accuracy is the offense's gift to the zone defense.

QB's that cannot consistently hit the crossers/slants and throw behind their WR's add emphasis to tip drills in practice.

Cole Beasley is a really good example of an ok player that many of our fans tended to overrate. Beas averaged 31.6 yds per game in his career in Dallas. It’s was slightly better in Buffalo- 38 yds per game. That’s an average WR folks.

The bottom line is, you can get WRs like this for super cheap. They are THE easiest position to find talent.

Yep, remember it like it was yesterday. The "NFL wr is open" window and then the present QB's inability to consistently throw into it.

And then when guys like Warner or Aikman point it out in the simplest of game tape.

And you hear Romo practically swallowing his mic during the game as he says in a restrained tone of "he's gotta get rid of it right there because he's open" and then...

All the hateful insults come flying that all of the above are just hatin' on Dak. And surely Warner, Troy or Romo definitely don't know what they're talking about. And if you agree with those QBs, you're a hater, too. LOL

I look forward to the laughs I have here reading when this stuff happens game after game.

It's entertainment.

Bob, I normally agree with you but on this topic I can't. Not suggesting we bring him back (even if he were open to it which he isn't), but more so the portrayal of his career. Players like Beas have value that is far beyond yards per game. He was basically a guaranteed positive yardage machine. Whether it be to convert a first down or turn a second & 10 into a third & 2 so your offense still had every option available. Also, the fact that his yardage went up in Buffalo shows that Dallas didn't take proper advantage of his skills. He was never going to lead the league like an outside receiver but players like him give the QB and the entire offense a huge comfort level with the mismatches & easy opportunities they create.

wow Coach, next thing you know you’ll be referring to him as the Messiah or “the one”. :D

officially joined the dark side.

Oh please. You don't call a guy back that tossed you under the bus right after he signed w/a new team. Besides, he sucks now.

This. Coach Jones even took it a step further during the season last year too and said Receivers were running the wrong routes.

So, uh...yeah.

Cole averaged 53 yards per game with Bills, BH.
The 38 ypg is for the overall career -brought down because his first 7 seasons with the Cowboys was 31.6.
Last 3 seasons with Buffalo - 67, 82, 82 receptions, 10.6 yds per catch average. 11 TDs over that span.
By no means advocating a return to Dallas-- just stating a bit more accuracy about his production with Buffalo.
NFL likely is over -- unless Beasley still wants to play for a vet minimum offer, then battles
rookies in a training camp for a roster spot.
