Why Not Give Cooper Rush a Chance Next Year?

It doesn't matter how much you're paying Dak. It's irrelevant. His money can't win you football games. This logic is bunk. I couldn't care less about how much Dak makes, and Jerry should write it off as a loss and move on.
It matters a ton.

Dak is better than Cooper Rush.

Since Rush is strictly a low end backup type, they're not even comparable.

People gotta be realists about the long term solution. It likely involves having a crappy season, drafting a QB high and praying they’re the answer.

He's not as bad as some make him out to be. He surely wasn't as bad as I thought he was coming into the season. The way I see it, you can load up with a fresh RB, a new, OL, WR, and maybe TE, and he can drive the bus.

Do you think Cooper Rush is capable of running San Francisco's offense?

With the right players around him, Cooper Rush is probably the best option we have right now, in my opinion.

If Rush started against San Fran, do we win?

I think so...
Stop.

Cooper Rush is not the answer unless Jerry can hire Kyle Shanahan to run the offense...

Your reaching....Cooper Rush won us some games but he is no where close to being the answer for our QB problem. A few more games with Rush and the other teams DC's would of figured out his weaknesses and his play style and it would of gotten ugly quick.

Just as there were reasons Dak didnt get drafted till the 4th round which would of been even lower if we hadn't of taken him there is also reasons why Rush was a undrafted walk on QB. And that's because he has to many weaknesses to be a starting QB in the NFL

And the problem w/ that is that we have a very good team here. Outplayed SF, and true super bowl contender.

I don't have many ideas about short term solutions, which is why I suggested Derek Carr. I do think it's time we started thinking long and hard about going in a different direction at QB.

that means we are in tank mode and shooting for top 5 pick. if that's the case, then let a few more players go like Tyron, Zeke, Dak, Lawrence and not resign any FA.

everyone keeps harping on rush being 4-1, but he can never carry a team and his performance degraded very quickly over the 5 games he played. we can't count on luck to win with him, so I am with you if the plan is to get to a top 5 pick.

Yea, like not close.

If we’re going into tank mode and playing for a high draft pick, yes, let’s start Rush all year.
On a scale of 1-10, Rush's arm strength is a 1. I mean, seriously, it's much worse than guys like Colt McCoy who failed as a starter due to arm strength. I'm not sure Cooper's arm is better than slack-armed Matt Cassell.

Agree but he does have a much better touch with the ball then what Dak has and I think he sees the field better but you are right what kills him and makes him nothing but a back up is he has no arm strength and he is a statue in the pocket.

I’m perfectly into going another direction at QB. But I’m not interested in clear downgrades at the position.

Rush does not have the physical ability to be a starter at the NFL level.
He was good enough to win a handful of games in the regular season but the playoffs would have exposed his weaknesses in a hurry. He’s a capable backup and thats it

And capable is stretching it.

amongst many reasons, he simply does not have the arm strength to make needed throws at this level

Did we not see enough of him this year? I mean, come on. If you wanna switch QB’s at least put forth something feasible.

Damn, Rush vs Prescott? That's where we are. I would like to defend the starter but can't do it anymore. Cooper Rush is definitely not the answer though.
