Why Roger “Bad-ell” is the worst

This is one of the very few times I disagree a little bit w/ BobHaze. I see it more as CC sees it, Goodell is nothing more than a hired assassin, a merc, and he'll prolly be known as a great commish, one who guided the NFL through a very trying time.

Can you even imagine trying to maneuver through this politically correct self righteous narcissistic mess that our society has become, and is being evidenced through the NFL? Dealing w/ the entitlement and greed and BS and taking all the heat and hate, I'd say he deserves his salary.

Right!!
History is going to reflect favorably on Goodell’s tenure.

He is paid to prevent loss by protecting the "integrity of the game". Meaning the product the NFL owners are selling. He makes a huge salary but whatever he makes is irrelevant.

Greedell is that you

I think Goodell has done a good job. DV is where he and the NFL has came up short. But they're damn if they do and damn if they dont in DV cases.

They can completely get out of it and let the courts decide but that doesn't always mean the person is innocent. Sometimes the woman drops because why most drop it, fear or they "love " the person. Others might get a little money on the side to drop it. Prosecutors don't like Ls on their resume so if they don't think they can get a guilty verdict, they'll drop it.

They can do what they do now and have people scream about the courts didn't do anything so why should they .

They're going to take heat from fans no matter how they handle it.

The rule changes are in the hands of the competition committee. He can give advise or opinion but it's up the them. With people wanting penalties reviewed, especially Payton and the saints, id like to know how Payton and the saints have voted on it in the past. Belichick has been for everything being reviewed for years now. Just wondering what their thoughts were before the nfc championship game.

Every critique against Gooddell is really a critique against the owners. The fact that this thread is about him, and not the owners, is exactly why he's great at his job.

That's why he has his job, it's his only function. He does not do anything that isn't at the behest of the owners.

well he didn't do his job re Zeke as Jerry asked him to be fair and he was anything but during that kangaroo court fiasco

IMO Goodell did what the majority of the owners wanted or at least supported. If you notice when an owner has an issue with Goodell the other owners do not get involved. In fact many will come out in support of Goodell.

you mean he did what Mara wanted,,,
Most Cowboys fans didn't give two crapps about Goodell until he suspended Zeke. Zeke's suspension would've been knocked down to 3 games if Jerry hadn't fought it. We don't know what went on in the inside, we just like to pretend that Zeke was innocent. And we've found a reason to rage. That's all it is.

imagine having 32 bosses, not just one. imagine almost every one of them is an egomaniacal billionaire. each wants to get his own way all the time. then imagine being the front man for a business (nfl) that is receiving law suit after law suit regarding cte's, incidents of domestic violence, etc. then you have to deal with poor officiating not of your own doing. I wouldn't want the job. but it's goodell's world.

And then add in that you absolutely cannot defend yourself. You have to take it.

All things considered, I'd prolly have to conclude that Goodell is doing an amazing job. I know that would be an extremely unpopular viewpoint, and I definitely don't know enough details to unequivocally conclude that, but I'd guess that he is.

I hated Goodie a long time before his kangaroo court.
