Why signing Colin Kaepernick is smarter than signing Romo

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they give him the starting QB spot last year and he couldn't play well enough to keep it?

There's a reason they won 2 games last year. I wouldn't touch the 49ers on Madden.

If your team has not shot at the superbowl I agree. Go young. Like the 49ers, jets etc.

The article is about why other teams should consider him, not why the Cowboys should sign him as their backup. Just in general and as opposed to playing the waiting game to see if Romo will be a FA.

You're gonna get flamed for this post, but at least one person agrees, and that person is me. A lot of people hate Kaep because of his political antics. Keep in mind, the sitting for the anthem thing is likely over this season. Judging based on football ability alone, Kaep is certainly qualified to be a backup QB. I like Mark Sanchez as a human being, but not as a backup quarterback. Kaep would be a gigantic upgrade over him, and over Kellen Moore, Jameil Showers, other recents like Weeden and Cassel. Tell me Kaep isn't better than all those guys. You can't. The only recent backup QB I'd rather have over Kaep is Romo, and that's just not going to happen. So sign Kaep with the stipulation that he forfeits any money if he kneels for the anthem. If he needs a political voice, tell him to set up a web site.

Some emoticon is not an answer. Tell me Kaep isn't a better QB than all the quarterbacks mentioned not named Romo. Go ahead. Are you capable of rationally discussing the topic or only of posting emoticons?
Read the article and stop guessing what it is about.

And where exactly does the socks he wore fall? Is that political or hatred?.....Coming from a family with Military and Police history, I think that was in very bad taste.....

Kap dug his own grave.....

Which of these legitimate contenders for backup QB in Dallas is better than Kaep?
Mark Sanchez
Kellen Moore
Josh McCown

No one wants to answer that question. I don't care that the article is about other teams. If Kaep could be our backup in Dallas, I want him. A backup is someone who's not of starting quality (otherwise he would be a starter somewhere) but that you have a chance to win with. Go ahead and add recent past backups to the list -- Weeden, Cassel. Have we mentioned anyone better than Kaep yet?

No one has any business answering this post without answering my question. Which option for a backup would be better than Kaep? No one answers because the answer is NONE of these.

Hell no, just keep Romo. It is as simple as that.

It seems like most here think they're saying DALLAS should sign Kap, which they are not.

Theyre taliking about those few teams (likeHouston) looking for a starter.

The answer's still no.

You cant ask that question with asking what the contract would be.

Why does everyone keep acting as if this referred to Kap to Dallas as a backup?

Two things:

  1. Not about Dallas
  2. Not about Kap as a backup

Good grief

Pfft. You won't read the article but demand answer to your question.
Well fine. To your question, Sanchez should never log another minute on the field.
Moore is a better option based on familiarity of the system alone.
McCown is twice the pro that Kaepernick is or ever will be.

Now, if you read the article, it opines that Kaepernick go to KC and sit for a year to learn Andy Reid's offense.
The article also notes Kaepernick's flaws in accuracy and the tendency to pull down and run after his first read.
Of course, any fan with knowledge can see that themselves without having it pointed out to them.
