Why signing Colin Kaepernick is smarter than signing Romo

Based on the GM of the 49ers saying they would welcome him back, him not being under contract was his choice.

Welcomed back, but at what price?

I could see him re-signing there, but I think it'll depend on the direction the 49ers go in the draft.

If that is true and this guy had an opportunity to make 16 million this year, then what does that say about him? Either way, he's an idiot.

Its not all about money to some people. He's got more than he ever could have hoped to have and enjoys giving to others and not football.

Then he should probably just retire and go live his life. But that's not what's going on here. If it's not about money, then why did he want to redo his deal to begin with? Why didn't he just sign the deal the 49ers put in front of him. Why was there such a long drawn out negotiation before the two year deal?

This is a nice story you paint here but none of it is true. I'm not buying at all.

The San Francisco 49ers and Colin Kaepernick have signed a restructuring of the quarterback's contract, wiping out the final four years and turning it into a two-year deal with a player option for the second year, sources told ESPN.

What exactly are you trying to illustrate with that article. All it says is that they restructured his deal. He basically went from 4 to 2 and frontloaded his contract. I don't get it.

He's a better option than Kellen Moore...
Kellen Moore keeps his mouth shut and is not a social crusader. That is worth something to coaches.

NFL teams don't have the time to have drama from a back up.

You said it was about money.

So how is it about money when Colin reworked his contract for HALF the money?

Uhhhhhhhhhh...contradiction there much?

Not much, no.

OK, you know what, if you want to believe that he just a good guy and the money doesn't matter, that's cool. Knock yourself out.

Oh, I would say that the majority of the NFL teams basically blackballing him is all the validation I need that NFL teams probably feel this way.

And be perfectly honest, everyone was talking about him kneeling down and so on. It was even blamed for declining ratings.

Right or wrong, bleeding heart or not, how is that not a distraction? And why would you want that as your backup especially after he has proven to be a mediocre QB that would play a completely different style than 90% of the QBs in this league?
