Too much credit for the Jones twins. They aren't knowingly settling for some football reason. They don't have any clue that he's not good enough.

They'd never replace him anyway because that would look bad on them and they are much too big of a fan of themselves to ever do that.

Expect a declaration of their belief in the QB to come soon if they haven't already. Also expect a fairly inactive offseason much like the last one.

The Cowboys had plenty of cap room when Dak was on his rookie deal.

They still didnt sign anyone.
Sort of...They still had the fallout of the Romo contract for much of that time. Could they have done more? I'm sure they could have, but the QB cap hit was still an issue. Romo counted something like 27Million the year after he retired. I forget when those hits stopped.

I suppose you are right. They probably still see shades of Emmitt in Zeke.

As incompetent as they may be, the Jones Boyz know one NFL truism: It's a lot easier to get worse at QB than to get better. Dak does just enough to keep the team "relevant" and the season interesting for fans, even if he isn't good enough to make a playoff run. They figure the status quo is better than the risk of wandering the QB desert again like they did after Aikman and before Romo.

So, they will stick with him until it becomes absolutely untenable to do so. The question then is will they have someone waiting or will they hope to get lucky again a la Romo? Until then, they will give Dak a few more weapons, maybe try to strengthen the defense some, but they won't blow things up as long as they are relevant late in the season.
Dak is crap
They’ll stick with him for 4 reasons:

1. They already paid him
2. They have no idea how to go out and get another QB
3. He is a company man and says all the right things
4. He’s mediocre so he will keep the team competitive so they can keep selling this to idiot fans and keep making money

The Jones comments on Dak Prescott are starting to remind me of the comments they made about Jason Garrett's coaching. Do you remember comments like "We have every confidence in Jason as our head coach. We know he will get the job done for us."

Now, the Dak comments run along the same vein. "Dak is our QB now and for the foreseeable future. We are confident he will ....BLAH, BLAH, BLAH..."

With the contract they gave Dak we have to put up with him for 2 more years.

It’s almost as if I said we’d be locked into mediocrity once that deal was done.

3 of the 4 remaining QBs still on their Rookie deal and the other is Patrick Mahomes who Dak will never be…

Because they signed a contract that they can not really get out of. When you do not gain a thing by cutting a player and have no replacement for him you keep him. You are going to pay him 89 million this year and next you might as well keep him. They did this to themselves.

This. Even if you could find a trade partner, trading Dak would result in a staggering dead money cap hit that makes a trade pretty much unrealistic either this year or next. The only real option is to try to continue to upgrade the talent around him, at least until you can realistically part ways in 2025.

Maybe you have to keep him on the roster, but you don't have to play him.

Another reason you need real football people running things like the egirls.

Personally, I believe JJ isn't going to see anymore SBs with his fundamentally flawed QB and until he is dead and gone no one in the family is going to stand up to the senile old man and demand that they go in another direction WITHOUT Dakota "WENTZ 2.0" Prescot!

Like David Carr of the raiders, he has a no-trade contract, but the QB can be transferred if the QB wants to go to a team, as is the case from Carr, so Dak should do the same. At the end of the day Dallas is not going to win an SB while Dak is still on the team, it is better to start looking for another QB now, than in 2 years when Dak's contract ends,

Do you really see the jones boys doing this? Took them 3 years to actually start using Pollard. And they have never sat the starting QB to play the backups due to him not playing well. Not even when it no longer mattered ie against the commanders this last year.
