Why the negativity?

I don't expect to get quality players in the last 2 rounds, but I did expect the Cowboys to realize this was a very weak draft after the 5th round and thus use those picks in maybe 4th or 5th rounds to move up. Denver used all its late picks to move up ahead of us in the 4th round to draft one of the projected better NT Marcus Thomas (and his baggage).

I like the Doug Free selection in the 4th round but I'm really upset with our first pick in that round. We had a chance to add a quality player at a variety of need positions but instead we took a project. Does anybody really believe Isiah Stanbough (sp?) was the BPA at that pick? Now we take a FB who won't make this team and probably not even our PS. I think JJ has learned enough to get some good picks in the first day, but the 2nd day is mostly questionable.

I know this draft has been pretty weird and people are complaining that we aren't filling needs, but it isn't like our need players are all being scooped up at this point. At WR guys like Chansi Stuckey, Dave Ball, Jarrett Hicks, and Matt Trannon are all still out there. At DB there's still Courtney Brown, David Irons, Travarous Bain, and Anthony Arline are still on the board. NTs like Walter Thomas, Keith Jackson, and Kelly Talavou are still out there too.

Because mommy didn't luv me:lmao2:

Well, they've been playing it just about every time we've had a pick.

If you watched the draft on the NFL Network, I'm sure you've seen it once or twice.

They do it for every team.

so you have 1 whopping source of info to base your opinions on.

gotcha. i'll move along now. you pull up your kiper draft guide and go judge.

i can agree i wish we'd have moved up to the 5th round somehow and used our picks that way, but hey - we got a kicker w/potential. all we can do now is hope it pans out.

this draft is about next year's pick from Cleveland. That's what this entire draft will be remembered for. If it's a top ten pick next year, (which it will be) this draft will be seen as a winner.

I wouldn't go crazy about picking a kicker in the 6th round because, how many sixth rounder position guys make it?

I totally agree with you. That trade could become one of the top fleecings in NFL History. I personally feel Brady Quinn has bust written all over him (come on, why do 21 teams pass on the kid when franchise QBs are nearly impossible to find?). But if he does turn out good, the trade will still look good for both teams.

Im happy Clevland plays in the AFC.

And honestly, unless Clevland pulls a miracle and makes the playoffs next year, we essentially will have traded UP and received a 2nd rounder. Jerry's draft might look a little bit whacky right now, but wait til we see what that pick will be next year.

On Spencer...

I think alot of you had some sort of delusions of grandeur that simply putting Wade Phillips in charge of hte defence would up the pressure so much we had no more needs on defense. Besides Ware we don't have another pressure player, barring Ellis who is a huge "?".

We needed a pass rusher. And with the 3-4 you need to have an abundance of LBs. We all kind of knew that.

Well..I don't base everything on it. But the folks over at the NFL Network seem to agree with it.

Did you even watch the draft?

We drafted a kicker and a FB?

These are not team needs.

Everyone else says that DB, NT, and WR are team needs.

We have Newman, Henry, Glenn, R. Williams, Hamlin, Watkins, K. Davis, Jones, Reeves, and more. That doesn't really look like a huge team need to me. Apparently, the team agrees with that too, considering they didn't draft a DB early at all... plus they said we really didn't have too many "needs".

I know how you feel about our DB's... you've made it clear lately. However, the team apparently doesn't share your apprehension about our secondary... just like myself and many others here in this forum. I don't want to argue all day with you about it... I'll just trust the team and then wait and see.

As far as NT is concerned... people assume we need someone behind Fergy... but honestly, we don't have a clue what Phillips is thinking at the NT position. This may seem like a cop out, and I usually try not to say too many things like this... but I honestly trust Wade Phillips opinion on what we need on defense more than anyone else. That includes you, me, ESPN, Kiper and everyone else. We would have to assume that if Phillips thought we had a dire need at DB or NT, the team would have done something more about it than get Hamlin.

As far as WR goes... we have WR's that will start this year that likely would be playing no matter who we took besides Calvin Johnson. We can get a WR next year if that's what we want... but we have this year's WR. I don't know why so many fans got fixated on a WR, but I never bought into that opinion. I suppose maybe because we truly didn't have very many needs to focus on and the media started putting Dallas taking a WR in mocks and the fans started to focus on WR. We really don't have an immediate need there and so many round 1 WR's bust that I would've been surprised had we gone that way.

Anthony Spencer will play and help way, way more than a first round WR would have this year, IMO and I couldn't be happier with who we got in the first.

As far as I'm concerned, pass rusher and depth and help along the OL was just as important as anything... and that's what we did.

We did nothing today to fix our secondary.

It's still broken.

It would be nice to think a 7th round corner can help, but its doubtful he even makes the team.

Hamlin and a better pass rush will fix most of the issues in the secondary.

I really hope so.

We really had an opportunity to draft some help in the secondary, pick up a NT/DT, WR, and a LB.

We really didn't get any of this.

Hopefully Spencer works out at OLB, but he looks to be more of a pash-rushing specialist.

I really can't tell you how disappointed I am in this draft.

By everyone else you mean guys that don't follow the program day to day. Those are all needs in depth. Not needs as in we need a starter in those positions.

Meh, even if we would have picked up a first round pick in the secondary I don't think the player would have started from day 1. Spencer provides more pass rush and takes pressure off the secondary, which will be more help than a DB would.

A NT/DT would have been nice, but Walter Thomas, LaRon Harris, Quenin Echols, and Kelly Talavou are all still out there as potential UDFA's.

All we needed at WR was DEPTH, and Stanback could very well develop nicely to provide that. We've already got TO, Glenn, Crayton, Miles, Hurd, and Rector...would a rookie WR really be able to step up immediately over our top 3? I don't think so.

We have plenty of LBs right now. Ware, Spencer, Junior Glymph, Carpenter, Burnett, Ayodele, James, and Hoyte is good depth there. This draft was pretty weak with 3-4 prospects.

The thing most people don't realize about Spencer is that he is that he makes plenty of plays outside of the backfield running down RBs from behind. He's not just a pure-pass rusher.

I cant believe anyone is putting faith into that garbage that is on the bottom of the screen on the NFL network. Spencer is a LB, yet it says we diddnt pick it? Stanback is going to play WR, everyone knows it, but it has QB checked off? Its a load of crap, and its quite fitting that "You were the chosen one" Eduncan is putting faith into.
