I just have this gut feeling that Mr. Owens is not even close to being a Parcells guy.

Yes, I know Keyshawn was deactivated but he had history with Parcells.

No way T.O. is on this team next year, I just dont think Parcells would sign off on it. However, if he and Owens had history, I think it would happen.

Some people seem to forget that there is this very notable event that takes place each...the NFL Draft.

- Mike G.

And that NFL draft will be very good for loading up on OL which we seriously need.

There is no WR in this draft that is even close to being as talented as Owens is.

Well, you guys know how I am. I am all for building a young squad up through the draft.

Not to be cynical, but when was the last time you could get a Wide Receiver that was just as good as Owens was? I dont think Clayton, Roy Williams, Larry Fitz, Anquan Bolden and so many more were as good as Owens was as a pro right now. All those guys are good, but it takes time for anybody to become as good as Terrell Owens. I guess what I am trying to say is, you are not going to find a receiver in the draft that will come in and be the 1st or 2nd best receiver in the league, I just dont think that will happen.

I have no idea who is in the draft this year. I know Parcells' drafts have been "off the chain" and therefore I trust he could do something.

I just dont see this dude coming to the Cowboys. How much money do we have in the coffers? What will be the culture when he becomes a FA with regards to the bidding that will go on for him? Does Parcells still feel like what he told Bryant, "I still have one good arse whooping in me, dont make me use it on you"?

I dont see this guy coming here. I made a mistake last week because I said I would start cheering for the Texans if he wore the star, well I wouldnt and YES, I would be excited to have this dude, but I dont see this guy coming here.

When you hear Jerry on the radio side-stepping, he is just being an old business man. He knows better than to show his hand and say yeah or nay if he is interested in Owens. Seriously, I just dont see Parcells wanting to put up with this guy. He has been working real hard to get bad lockeroom guys off this team, grant it, none had Owens' talent, but I really think Parcells is really too old to deal with this dude.

I'll take Santonio Holmes over TO. Holmes is a playmaker without all the bs of TO.

Exactly. Even if there were studs like Braylon Edwards, Mike Williams, or Troy Williamson around, I probably wouldn't look there way. Even with those players you are STILL taking a gamble, because they could turn out to be bust. So, my way of thinking is, if you are going to gamble, you might as well gamble on someone that has proven to be a game breaking threat and is one of the top 3 talented receivers in the NFL, instead of gambling on an unproven rookie that toasted collegiate CBs and may have just benefited from a gifted QB.

To expound on what you are saying:

Owens first 32 games: 95 CAT, 1456 YARDS, 15.3 YPC, 12 TDS

Boldin first 34: 204 CAT, 2721 YARDS, 13.3 YPC, 13 TDS

Fitzgerald first 26: 128 CAT, 1738 YARDS, 13.6 YPC, 14 TDS

Roy Williams first 22: 81 CAT, 1248 YARDS, 15.4 YPC, 13 TDS

Owens had a HOF QB throwing him the ball, and his numbers are no better than these 3 young guys with questionable QB play.

All of you who think T.O. to Dallas is so off-the-wall might want to visit the Cowboy update site and read Mike Fisher's free column from a couple of days ago.

Stick your head in the sand if you want, the signs of T.O. and the Boys are everywhere.

Zebra, to be fair, the other 3 guys you list have all been starters from Day 1 of their pro careers while Owens was clearly not. He was kind of stuck behind the greatest wide receiver of all time for part of that stretch of 32 games you're citing, although I know Rice was hurt all of '97 if I'm remembering the correct season.

Just an observation, not taking a side one way or the other.

Drew wasn't making many throws where the receivers could make good runs. All of Witten's catches left him with nowhere to go. The same could be said for Keyshawn (who did have nice runs on WR screens). I recall one pass Key dropped that could've been taken for a first down, but Drew threw way behind Key. Glenn had a couple of drops, but I don't think he got the ball in a position where he could make a big run after the catch.

T.O. is very good with the deep routes and the second best I've ever seen at catching a short passing pattern and making a big play out of it (Rice is the best ever at that). If Dallas were to pick up T.O., Glenn would most likely explode as no D-Coordinator with half a brain is going to not focus their attention on T.O.

How is it unfair?

If Owens was great from the get go, would he be the 2nd option? I could argue that having Rice should really help his numbers. Throw in the fact he had two very good QBs throwing him the ball in SF.

Boldin and Fitzgerald are teammates, so that has got to hurt their production, no? Jeff Blake, Josh McNown, Kurt Warner or Steve Young?

Williams is part of a trio of first round picks, plus Harrington or Young?

The point is, Owens now is of no long term use to us, while a young WR could very well become a TO-like talent that can help us for 10 years.

Personally, I'd much rather take the risk of the unknown of a draft pick, than walk the road with the Devil for a one year chance to maybe win a SB.

What team has Owens won a SB with again?

How many teams could not wait to get his butt out of town?

I'd call those odds for from a sure thing.

Im co-signing this post

I am going to eat my own words too. I have always said you really open up the pocket book to get a player that will put you on top.

I cant say that with this guy. Very good player, would love to have a feel good story, Parcells turns him around, he takes us to the Big Dance yada yada yada, but all the fairytale classics were written a long time ago and I dont see another one happening if this guy came to town.

But man, I am just so excited just to even talk about him coming here. It will give alot to talk about when the season is over and it gets real boring on the boards.

And to be honest, I would not mind him coming here because Parcells is here. Parcells will always make sure that the team's future is always bright and will not let it hinge on one guy.

unless the cash is insane. Owens won't pick a team in the NFC East. I think he wants to go to a team that is much closer to getting over. Like a Denver, Atlanta, or Seattle.

Parcells is the reason I don't want him.

Tuna is in the twilight of his career, and why he may be able to control Owens, what impact would that added strain have on him?

Let's say it happens and TO gets a 1 year deal. Parcells keeps him in check, but we have a key injury somewhere.

We don't win, TO moves on, and the strain of it all keeps Parcells from extending his deal. No SB, no TO, no Parcells, NO THANKS.

Denver cant afford him. Atlanta's owner is on record stating he doesnt want him and Holmgren would laugh you out of the box even mentioning it.

they all say that now. But, you know there is more than 1 team who's going to interested in his talent and will say to themselves "Yeah, WE'LL be the team that'll turn him around"

Also, lets not put it past Philly to trade the guy to get something at for him. 3rd round pick, maybe another WR. Who knows?

I think he would like to be in Dallas. One reason is he sees this team as a playoff contender and soon to be Super Bowl contender. He would also love to get to face the Eagles 2 times a year.

He may like the idea but indications recently were that Parcells isn't too hot to the idea.

Thank heavens.

Hos,

Where was this? If anything the comments that have come out and those that have been reported as being private didn't throw cold water on it at all.
When the national guys like Peter King and Mort and then the locals like Norm and Fisher ALL say they think he ends up in Dallas and then Jerry goes on the radio and basically admits it's a real possibility, something is going on.

I'm not touting T.O. to Dallas, I'm just saying that because everyone hates him doesn't change what all the reporters are hearing behind the scenes.
