Why would San Fran let us take Singletary as DC

I DO think, however, that Norv must have passed Singletary's name to JJ (for whatever purpose) and this didn't just come out of the blue.

Zero in the NFL. Lenny Wilkens is the only guy to be in the basketball hall of fame as both a player and coach. The best players rarely make good coaches. The ones that did have success as a coach just did not do enough to warrant the HOF as a coach. Ditka and Forest Gregg both coached teams to Superbowls with Ditka winning it, but they didn't have long stretches of success as head coach.

The only other guy that comes to mind is Jerry West. He was one of the 50 Greatest Players of All Time and he is easily one of the 3 or 4 best GMs in the history of the NBA.

why not hire him as a DC after only four yrs of coaching...garrett is our OC after only two yrs of coaching...and tomlin is a HC after how many yrs of coaching. Singletary is not considered a big Xs and Os guy but he will give the defense some much needed passion that has been missing. We have aTodd Bowles who can offer the strategy and I am still on board to hire campo as an asst coach ( if jacksonville will let him go).

Parcells has put us in this bind by waiting so late to make a decision so he has to find the best present he can find on christmas eve.
