(Good Read Lets Hope Taco Figures it all out).

Nick Perry
('12, 28th overall) - didn't really do jack for four seasons before breaking out in his fifth year, hitting free agency as a target for many Dallas fans, and a good start to this year
Melvin Ingram ('12, 18th overall) - did even less than Perry for three seasons, then had an even bigger breakout and currently has the look of a long-time rush threat
Whitney Mercilus ('12, 26th overall) - this was quite a year for these guys. Put up 5-7 sacks for his first three seasons but did little other than offer pass-rush flashes...before then emerging as a much more complete and threatening player
Cameron Heyward ('11, 31st overall) - looked like a useless bust for two years, then improved steadily and became a core 3-4 DE
Cameron Jordan ('11, 24th overall) - 15 starts as a rookie...1 sack. Yeah, he's been a LOT better ever since
Robert Quinn ('11. 14th overall) - nothing more than a decent rush specialist as a rookie, 5 sacks and little else...and then he leapt off the page from there
Derrick Morgan ('10, 16th overall) - hardly did a thing for two years, before then becoming a quality starter for years afterwards
Jerry Hughes ('10, 31st overall) - in three years in Indy, was basically a piece of garbage. Then he moved on to Buffalo and has been a core rusher for them ever since. The Colts didn't have patience; learn from their mistake.
Jason Pierre-Paul ('10, 15th overall) - you know how good he's been, sans home explosives, since he took the league by storm in 2011. What you might forget is that he managed only 4.5 sacks and a measly 17 tackles as a rookie
Chris Long ('08, 2nd overall) - more run-stopper than pass rusher for two seasons, disappointing from such a high pick, but then Long fully lived up to the billing after that (until his body started to break down)
Anthony Spencer ('07, 26th overall) - just a decent little piece for two seasons, then he became a rock against the run who was underrated against the pass due to getting more hurries than sacks, and then he had his full emergence in 2012...before a knee injury ruined the rest
Mario Williams ('06, 1st overall) - a true specimen, yet that only added up to 4.5 sacks in year one. It got a lot better after that.

If he's like D Law, he'll be OK and explode during his contract year. Lol

And not to mention non of these guys mastered the taco Spin move at such a young age.
That dude can spin himself right into a double team better than any rookie I’ve seen...

Just kidding...he will figure it out and be fine.

I'll give him 3 years but next year will be the tell. Players usually make their biggest improvement between year one and two.

He HAS TO get stronger....can’t hand fight at all with OL. Once they hook onto him, he’s done.....and, usually ends up on the ground. Serious balance issues.

This is true.

I do believe however, that with his frame he has the body type where he can put on a lot more muscle and really get much stronger. A full off-season in an NFL program should really make a big difference with his strength.

So what the examples you gave us seem to suggest is that you don't bother drafting one in the first. You get one late and try to develop him OR don't draft one at all.

Just get a guy with his rookie deal expiring (who was drafted in the first round) and pick him up cheap after his rookie deal expires because history says he is going to break out.

It really makes no sense to draft a guy and spend a first round pick on him and watch him piss off all but MAYBE his last year and then pay him $15 million per year.

Why not just blow off drafting one altogether since it doesn't save you any cap room and pay out the *** for one in free agency, and use the picks on guys who will contribute in their rookie campaign.

I'm being somewhat facetious, but not so much. Lol

That's the thing. He can turn himself into a machine like DLaw did in the weight room.

Good effort, but doubt it's going to convince the peanut gallery because they don't understand the game. Precedent and history goes out the window with these gomers.

Taco will be fine. He's got the physical tools and footspeed to be a great end. He needs strength and development, like 99% of the talent that comes into this league playing with the big boys with their hands in the dirt.
