Why you take a QB at 4

You don't have to tell me that. I'm not going to be the guy saying that you think he's the next Tom Brady just because you see some of Brady in his game.

Do you get what I was saying though? The quick release and shorter throws. The great accuracy. A lot more timing throws. Predominantly shotgun. I think Goff would really excel in that system. I think he is the more NFL ready, but even at that, I don't think he would be nearly as good of a scheme fit here because we use much less of a timing, west coast, spread style of attack.

While it's unlikely, San Diego may go QB this year.

I think San Diego really is the biggest wild card in the draft. They're not that far off from us in terms of needing a QB. They also have a move coming up to LA and grabbing someone like Goff could really pull in a lot of that SoCal fan base. I really don't think Bosa is a good fit for that defense either. I will say, if anyone is going to reach for Spence, I could very well see it being San Diego. He could be their premier 3-4 edge rusher for a decade.

Who knows? Their o-line is also a mess. Maybe they trade with Tennessee to get Tunsil. The Titans would then get Bosa and picks. Good deal for them.

Or the Chargers trade down to a QB hungry team for a raft of picks. That's my nightmare scenario, since my preference is a QB at #4. It's all just a guess here on Feb. 1.

Arguing the point simply because you want someone to explain to you in detail why these QBs are in the discussion as being worthy of the 4th overall pick.

Welcome to the Internet; go do your own research. There are multiple threads about each and every one of these guys, as well as hundreds of scouting reports and hours of footage on the Web.

Have fun.

So, nothing from you? I'm not looking for what the scouts are saying, I already know. These guys have a lot of question marks.

I had a question at the end of that post. If you aren't willing to answer it, don't respond. Thanks.

Okay, I'll bite.

If Goff/Wentz is still there at 4, why should we draft them over prospects like Ramsey, Bosa, Treadwell, Hargreaves, Jacks?

In my opinion, the reason you take Goff or Wentz over the other prospects is because QB is the most important position in football, and perhaps the single most important position in all of sports.

None of the other prospects you listed will have anywhere near the impact that a QB would. Yes, these guys have question marks. Every QB every draft does (in fact, every player, regardless of position does).

21 Pro Bowl caliber starters and a bad QB is a losing team. Having a QB that is a capable starter is far more valuable in the NFL today than a Pro Bowl WR, DE, CB, or LB.

Average or better QB play > Pro Bowl play at any other position.

See, I knew you could do it. You made me very proud.

My reasoning is very simple: I don't want to be this high in the draft again for another 15 years.

BTW: I believe we have the third longest streak in the NFL of not taking a quarterback in the first round. Only KC and NO have gone longer.
