1) he pancaked the guy, that is basically the ultimate result that a lineman can have in a one-on-one situation
2) curious that you used the word "your"; are you:

a) a fan of another team,
b) upset that your pet cat wasn't taken
c) are you a fan of "johnny (college) football?
d) all of the above

lol,,, no need to be defensive or lob silly accusations(or to over-think things, which appears your problem here). I'm thrilled with the pick, just surprised at the use of that clip. An objective viewer sees the right arm hook and ride down to the ground. A positive would be that his initial contact made the defender wilt and crumble to the side.

Egg, not to bust your balls, I think you are a good poster, but there was no other way to take the word "your" but to put you on the other side of that. Why not just NOT include that word? You made a statement with that one word, that you didn't approve of it, that is what I am saying

I actually calculated it myself. Here's what I got for OT:

Measurable Average
Height: 6' 5.71"
Weight: 316.35
Arm Length: 34.19"
Hand Size: 10.04"
10 Yard Dash: 1.76
20 Yard Dash: 2.98
40 Yard Dash: 5.27
Bench Press: 24.77
Vertical Jump: 27.95"
Broad Jump: 101.67"
3 Cone Drill: 7.76
20 Yard Shuttle: 4.75
Good job. That's a lot of work digging up all of that info.

"you" and "your" can be singular and directed towards one person or group OR it can be generalized to include us,,, as in "it sucks, but hey, what are you gonna do?"

Look at those teams offensive lines and then revisit the topic. You made the case for Dallas rebuilding it's offensive line.

I like the pick and I'm a huge advocate of rebuilding both lines. I just don't think that Dallas taking 4 years to rebuild the OL is anything to write home about. These teams turned it around and went the SB in the time it took us to revamp our OL with three first round draft picks.

His arm length is fine for a Guard. He's 6-4 compared to 6-2 for Cooper. That's makes his overall length (arm length + height) slightly better than Cooper's.

The line in the table says NFL Average. Is that the NFL average or just the average of the players in the chart? I would be great to know the average of NFL starters.

He might have tested better than Cooper athletically, but Cooper was one of the most athletic Guards that I've seen in game footage.

I really like Martin as a Guard but I'm concerned that they might want to move him to OT in the future where he will have the smallest wingspan of any OT in the NFL.

Justin Pugh on the gnats has some T-Rex arms for an OT haha (32'' vs. Martin's 32 7/8'')

Here's a GIF from the article:

I never played past little league, but isn't that type of block illegal?

It is a valid concern. I hope he can replace Free, but his physical limitations could create a situation where he would not offer the best value there. He could be an average ROT, but he could be an All-Pro guard. If that is the case, I would rather see him at the guard position. There has been some concerns about Martin playing guard. He hasn't played the position and the concern is that power rushers may cause him problems. He is not a power OG prospect, but that doesn't mean that he can't be great at the position. One question that comes to mind when I look at the starters is , "why are they playing Martin at the ROG position instead of the LOG position "? Martin is not a power guard, Leary is. Martin has better movement skills than Leary . Leary is a bigger guard than Martin with more power . Scouting reports say that Martin is at his ceiling when it comes to his physical development. All of this leads me to believe that Martin would be a much better fit on the left side and Leary's size and skill set fits the right side much better. I don't know if anybody else has thought about these things, but they have crossed my mind since it was rumored that Dallas would consider Martin at 16.

Jon Gruden seems to think the addition of Martin makes the Cowboys OL as good as any in the NFL. I certainly hope he is right. No reason why should not be at least an above average running team.

Well they were one of the better lines a year ago and the run game was as good as anyone, problem was they failed to use it enough.

Larry Allen could play OT but he was best as a Guard.

IMO, Martin will be better as a Guard regardless of how good he is at OT.

I think you are right. There is a good chance that he may be nothing more than an average OT due to his physical limitations. Another thing to consider is that he may be better at LOT instead of ROT. That doesn't mean he is the best LOT on the team. The ROT position could cause him problems with facing bigger, stronger players. I agree that Martin's best position is at guard. I think he fits the left side better than the fits the right.

I think the Cowboys see the left side as the power side. Doug Free is might be the least powerful OLineman in the NFL. Tyron is now a powerful LT.

I don't think they really had a choice in what side to play Free. He failed on the left side. Tyron is not the typical right tackle either. The Cowboys have wanted a bigger player on the right side in the past. The strong side is the power side in this offense even if the particular players don't reflect it.

The difference in LT and RT has been drastically reduced in the modern pass-happy era of the NFL.

LT became a big issue in the Lawrence Taylor era. Teams had to find quicker OTs to play the "blind side" and most of the quicker guys were lighter and less powerful. Some teams still have the old style RT like Loadholt in Minn, but in general teams want pass protectors on both sides.

The Cowboys definitely ran so plays to the left in 2013 that they avoided running to the right. They put a big focus on keeping Free out of certain types of situations in the running game. He is a wall-off blocker that struggles with power blocking or reach blocking; therefore, in 2013 they schemed around his issues. They required Tyron to make some blocks that they never required Free to make in the running game. The OL coaching was really terrific in how they schemed around Free's issues in both run blocking and pass protection. It helped Free in general that they are running a Zone Blocking Scheme.
