I've seen some posts and heard some media guys on local sports talk radio say that Wilcox was terrible against the Rams TE Jared Cook.

I reviewed all of Cooks receptions in the game on the All-22.

These are the actual completions to Cook. He might have been open at other times, but these are the plays where he actually caught the ball.

As you can see, Wilcox was responsible for 1 completion for 16 yards when covering Cook.

Thanks for some more great insight, X...I guess this pretty much beats the Wilcox sounding board theories going around right now.

I'm enjoying the safeties being something of an enforcer in the front secondary area...for runs and passes, both. I like seeing pain delivered for defensive side gain.

So you are saying since Cook flat out drop an easy TD pass, JJ was ok on that play?

Amazing how in all of these scientific reviews our players are actually doing pretty great. Except Doug Free of course.

Can't remember which channel it was, but I think it was the old fullback Jon Ritchie who was highlighting how awful Wilcox was doing against TEs. Think that was more than the Rams game, though.

And it's not physical ability, it's that he doesn't seem to understand his responsibilities, which is really disappointing. This is literally high school level stuff we're talking about.

I watched the coaches film of Rams game and he makes so many mental mistakes. It's a run play and everyone in front of him is running toward the ball carrier, yet he is still back peddling 30 yards away from the play. Over running plays, taking bad angles. etc..etc..

Maybe that's what happens when you convert an old running back to safety?

But really, even with that said... Some of his mistakes are so simple you'd think any player would get it after a couple of years of reps.

I know, right? Jeremy Parnell is a superior player. Mo Claiborne has been playing lights out. Everyone here is just a bunch of morons, including the coaching staff.

So are you saying that if Free was replaced by Parnell, we'd be unbeatable??

Thanks for the insight xwalker! Wilcox is not ,there' yet - obviously. But I still hear Mike Mayock labeling JJ as a steal of the draft and preaching patience with him, because of his lack of experience playing safety.

Parnell's name btw is Jermey.

How many years was Church on the team before he became a starter? Wilcox has much higher potential than Churchs n we dont wanna be patient with him. If Church was starting his first two years I doubt he would be on team at this point.

I'm starting to think that we are getting trolled with all of these reviews.

Despite every legitimate NFL person saying that these players are turning in bad performances these reviews always say the opposite.

It can't be a coincidence at this point. Dare I say we have some Commanders fans among us?

It's a little like everything else: The immediate reaction doesn't tell the whole story. We're quick to assign blame, but when you start breaking down responsibilities, you see where the true fault lies.

Of course, when I've reviewed film on Wilcox what I've seen is a player who is too often trailing the tight ends when he has coverage responsibility. It's possibly coming from him reacting too late when picking them up in his zone, but there have been times when he appears to have man coverage where he's failed to stay in their hip pocket.

However, I have seen some good plays and quickness from him at times that gives me hope that his skills will progress the more he plays.
