I was just thinkin',Fasano was drafted higher then Witten so what are the chances he would/could be better?

If he is better then Witten this could be one hell of a duo....also what area's do you think he might be better then Witten in?

have fun....

Fasano seem sot be a mor epolished player coming out of college, but it will be hard to reach the Pro Bowl level of Witten

I will answer that question after 2 or 3 years in the NFL where you go to two consecutive Pro Bowl's...hmm that sounds like a familiar story of a current Cowboys TE.;)

We really need to see him play in the nfl first to get a true read on Fasano, but he has the potential to be a better blocker than Witten and he is also known as one of those guys who can instinctively find the open spots in zone coverage.

What we get Witten in the 3rd? And look how he has turned out in just 3 seasons....Fasano most certainly has the potential to develop into another dangerous weapon in our offense. It's going to be very hard for defenses to defend everybody.

I'm hopin he blocks better. Isn't Witten's best attribute.

Fasano is a bruiser and doesn't possess the soft hands like Witten, so I'd think it hard pressed to surpass him in that category. I'm more along the line of them complementing each other very well. Nice balance at the TE posoition. However the kid has yet to play an NFL down, so again, we're waiting.

Also I would love to know how Witten really feels about the signing of Fasano...

It was a different year, so it really does not matter at all where the two were drafted in their two respective drafts IMO.

He should love it, hes going to be blocking less and catching more

and plus hes going to be rich in a few weeks

-- I think Fasano can be a Dan Cambell with better athleticism and better hands. But there really no way hes going to be better than Witten, Witten is the 2nd or 3rd best TE in the league

Why would he care? Especially if we resign him to a huge $$$ contract extenstion this summer as expected.

Also Witten was a steal in the 3rd. Fasano was a bit of a reach in the 2nd

Im sure Witt had higher grades coming out

He could be better, but it won't be easy... Witten is a very good player. I think he'll be a better blocker and like someone already mentioned, Fasano has a knack for finding the soft spots in a zone, so he'll make his share of catches.

Both of them playing will take opportunities away from each in the number of passes they can catch, but it should increase the effectiveness of the entire offense.

I think they'll compliment one another very nicely. Fasano will be playing more of an h-back role and he'll be the motion guy. Witten will play more of a traditional TE role on the offense, so Jason probably will have more catches. Together, along with TO and Glenn, they should provide quite a problem for defenses and should create mismatches constantly. I can't wait to see how teams will try to defend the two TE set.

Of course we played a lot of two TE sets last year... but having Fasano instead of Campbell opposite Witten will be a whole different story for opposing defensive coordinators. Will they go to a nickel and try to cover the TE's with DB's? If they do, our running game will jump all over them. Will they stay in their base defense and try to handle those guys with LB's? If they try that... I think Jason and Anthony will have a field day against them.

The nice thing is... we should stay in that lineup pretty much the entire game, so teams won't be able to key on personell changes to dictate which defense they should be in. Our offense will be able to dictate the flow of the game.

It should be fun to watch!

It's going to be extremely difficult for teams to defend our offense this season...both Witten and Fasano should prosper as TO is likely to draw all kinds of attention.

I wonder if there will be enough balls to go around between them, TO, Glenn, Crayton, MBIII, JJ, etc?

Lafluer was drafted in round 1. OMG... using the logic that he should be better because of how much higher he was drafted than Jason Witten... he should be a freakin' Hall of Famer!;)

It's funny how people use logic to rationalize that since Witten is great but was drafted in the 3rd... that a player taken higher than him in the draft should be proportionally better. :p: It just doesn't work that way.

Witten IMHO is finese type player. I think he was the 2nd best route runner (Glenn 1st) on the roster. Couple that with his size and deceptive speed he's a matchup nightmare. I think this is why Parcells pocked at Witten during his second training camp with the "Pretty boy" comment. I think Parcell shoved that comment under rug after Witten played with a wired jaw.

Fasano IMHO will be a great compliment. He is gritty. He makes tough catches in traffic. I think he's a better blocker than Witten was in his rookie year.

Could he be better? like the guy said before, give me 2 years and 2 Pro Bowls

True. The real winner in all of this just might be Terry Glenn. He has historically beaten the crap out of single coverage... and he's likely to see quite a bit of that this season.

Remember Philly had the bright idea of single covering Terry in the first game we played last year? Remember what Glenn did to them? It was brutal. Had they not gone into crisis mode and started gang covering Glenn... we might have scored half a hundred on them.

The whole rest of the season, no team was stupid enough to single up on Terry. This year, team's won't have much of a choice, I'm afraid. If they want to smother Glenn... well that's just fine. We'll see what TO can do when they play him straight up.

Commander fans love to say that historically, TO hasn't played well against them... that they always shut him down. Well, that's kind of true, because they double and triple team TO. I can't wait for them to do that this year. Terry Glenn is going to light them up if they do. He'll run up and down the field on those guys and let them play with TO all day. The second they start to panic and send guys to Glenn... that's when Witten and Fasano will start hurting them.

Looking back at the games where the Commanders have shut down TO... you can see where Pinkston and his ilk have killed the Commanders in those games. And the Commanders lost a lot of those games. If they think Pinkston had a hey-day with all the attention on TO... wait until they get a load of Terry Glenn!

I don't see where you got that Fasano doesn't have soft hands, I believe he was thought to have had the best of all the TEs in the draft.
