Will Bobby Carpenter be traded?

"I think you get my drift, though."

The drift being that QB's in this league take time to get on the field (at least in the past) but LB'ers should be able to contribute immediately (no matter what round they are drafted), if nothing more than ST's play. No offense, but playing Defense is not rocket science. See the ball, follow the ball, tackle the man with the ball. Obviously defensive schemes in the NFL are a lot more complex than this, but those are the basics, you get my drift.

He has not being playing up to what a whole lot of his draft fans thought he would. Damn only if they could've had some common sense to get Manny Lawson.:bang2: :bang2: :bang2: :bang2: :bang2: :bang2: :bang2:
Are you related to STSINAZ???

Of the rest of the players taken in the first round, there isnt a whole lot there that I would rather have, we didn't have a need for CB or RB, and that was really the only position that still had value after we picked. Maybe if you wanted to try to make Kiwi a OLB? Or take Santonio Holmes.

How many freakin times does this thread have to come up.

The fact Carp is not on the field is a good problem. Remember the Ellis thread. You can do what you want but I'd rather people put Carpenter in the key word search and reread this stuff if you get the itch.

Wait the required three years at least two before jumping off the bridge.

Cry me a river. Do you wish that we dumped every slow developing player we have ever had? Aikman and Emmitt and Irvin would have been cut by your standards.

I believe you are just frustrated like many Cowboy fans. This is a potentially a dominate team and we have only shown glimpses of our potential. We will get better as will Carpenter.

Thank you. Hey I liked Manny too but I agreed ( for once) that carpenter was a true linebacker and lawson was another DE conversion types. I know he has not been active and seems to be a bust after 5 games but geesh guys! Every first round pick will not be a Shawn merriman. he is a football player and he has football in his blood. he has the speed for the position. he has the size for the position. and he has the attitude to play. now after three years the guys is still not active then yes, he will be a bonifide Bozworth. But I am just not ready to say that and it frustrates me to hear us throw a rookie under the bus because he is not ready to play every down. Hell where is he going to play other than special team? Sometimes you just want a guy to turn out to be a good football player for a few years that can contribute and this year is just not his year.

Without wadeing thru this whole thread, KEVIN BURNET anyone! same same...

I'll take David's analytical abilities to scout players over yours every day of the week and twice on Draft days.

The Henson in 2005 chairman?

Fellas.....every spring there are players that are hyped up beyond belief because they played on a great college team...Carpenter is no exception here.

Now there are also players that come along that played on average college teams that don't get much attention and fly under the radar....Lawson is that type of guy. He is the reason that Mario Williams went 1st overall, and also the reason that McCargo's stock rose to 1st round status as well....The Freak is a playmaker and anybody with a ounce of football knowledge would know this.

I'm not a homer....and I'm not going to sit here and defend busty.....he is what he is and our front office dropped the proverbial ball big time on this one. Lawson would have made our defense a truly elite unit. We rolled the dice and gave away shanle and fujita thiking this bum was going to be a star and we came up on the short end.:banghead:

He looked horrible at the combine, too. I wonder what we were thinking here as well.

didnt Carpenter suffer a pretty bad broken leg in the season finale against Michigan?

give the guy a little slack people...he probably still isnt 100% yet

Why would we trade our #1 pick after 5 games, and maybe a better question would be how in there right mind would give us anything for him right now. You know the Panthers took Thomas Davis with the 16th pick I think in lst years draft, and he was totally lost all year, and didn't play much. This year he is starting and leading the team in tackles. We are fortunate to have good linebackers already, and can bring him along slowly. What would youwant to get for him a 3rd or 4th round pick? CRAZY!

Good post. It's amazing how few posters have this kind of common sense.
