Will McClay to focus on more Power 5 schools!

They make a good point regarding NIL. But, looking back at most of their 1st and 2nd round guys over the years, they are generally Power 5 players. I think that generally holds true for their premium picks (1st, 2nd, and 3rd rounders) as a whole.

Obviously, Tyler Smith, Marshawn Kneeland, and Revell are exceptions.
not very good results from two of those three

I agree that you are better off drafting from the teams that have the most talent as the competition there is the strongest.

They buy the best players and those players face the best competition in practice and in games.

NIL money has changed college athletics just as planned. The rich get richer.

So, it makes sense

@Coogiguy03 Power 5 = SEC, ACC, Big 12, Big 10, PAC 12 (what’s left of it)

I'm not sure what a power 5 school is, but hopefully we no longer look at South Alabama State, or San Jose State for players to help us, get players from the big schools!
So you would rather take a less talented player from a power 5 school than a more talented player from a smaller school???

I honestly can't think of anything positive to say about that.

Texas State just joined a power five conference.
They are part of the new PAC 12. The reformed one that thr big schools wish hadn’t come along.

Really, it’s now the Power 4 because the other conferences took most of the big PAC 12 schools and the conference nearly collapsed.

People just still say Power Five out of habit.

I know you knew this, but some others might not.

Fair point. I’d guess it’s the level of competition and the fact that they expect their higher picks to not only be able to start, but also make an impact immediately.

Small schoolers are less likely to do that.

PAC 12 is back next year baby ;)

They might need to go to Rikers Island to find the next dawg at LB.

Heck yeah. Football powerhouses Gonzaga and Texas State, duke it out at the Armed Forces Bowl.
hey, no one said they had to be good, every conference has a Northwestern or until recently, Vanderbilt to bring up the GPA

Jerry Rice (Mississippi Valley State) and Demarcus Ware (Troy State), among many others, say hello.

I’m more onboard with not taking seriously injured or character issues players.

McClay has benefited by being compared to the Jones dummies. Some here still think Old Will is a good talent evaluator. The fact is he sucks.

Dallas drafts many players from P5 schools(conferences), not with much luck, but they do.
