Be the interim Head Coach for the Falcons?? Sounds like the Assistant Coaches for the Falcons were as surprised as anyone with Petrinos announcement that he was leaving. Leaves them in a tough spot.

A little birdie tells me Offensive Coordinator Hugh Jackson will be named the Interim Head Coach for the remainder of the season.

Either way, that whole franchise is in shambles. I feel pretty bad for the guys on that team at this point.

Is there any significance whether or not Zimmer becomes an interim HC of Atlanta Falcons?

Zimmer is probably thinking right now that he should have taken that Nebraska HC job 2(3?) years ago. Zimmer was a good guy and well liked by the players. Zimmer wasn't a 3-4 coordinator. The Cowboys went to the 3-4. End of story. I'm glad he's not the Cowboys DC anymore but I wish him well.

Zimmer left...and our secondary problems stayed.

Looking back on it...it wasn't his fault.

Mike Zimmer is a fine coach.

as usual the uneducated one misses the point. Zimmer was a 4-3 guy. A bend but don't break tampa 2 guy. He is not and never will be a 3-4 guy.
It takes a different mindset.

The secondary problems were not Mike's fault.

He was the D coordinator for years- and with the exception of the strange 2003, he never had a good year against the pass. Part of that was not having the rush, but most of that was the passive D he prefered.

I hope Zimrod gets the interim job since I don't like the Falcons. :D

You're completely clueless but you're well aware of that, I'm sure.

Why don't you compare Zimmer's current defense to our current defense. Which one is performing better? Which defense is getting more sacks and turnovers?

I also don't recall this team ever being 12-1 with Zimmer at DC.

But do carry on, living in your own little fantasy world.

Zimmer is one of the things that I don't miss about the old Cowboys, look what he did last week against the Saints, he made Drew Breeze look like a hall of fame guy, even without a rb they passsed for about a thousand yards it seemed. ..

Zimmer was a very mediocre coach but he never really had the players and once Parcells' philosiphy was fully entrenched, he was forced to learn a new defense.

I am convinced that opposing offenses knew exactly what we were going to do and when we were going to do it.

Remember when our defenders would blitz up the middle and get stuck? Our zone coverage was disastrous.

The 2003 Defense was a little overrated and were totally exposed on Thanksgiving Day against the Dolphins for what they were, very mediocre and the benefactors of a very soft schedule.

locally they are saying it will be Hue Jackson, Zimmer or Emmitt Thomas...

after that nobody knows, although Chan Gailey's name has already come up too

All this Falcons coaching talk reminds me of Jerry Glanville. Remember when Jerry traded Brett Favre to the Packers?:lmao2:

everyone points to that, and since I hate the Falcons it is always great when they give away somebody that turns out really good somewhere else (Tony Casillas, Deion, now Schaub hopefully)

but in their defense on Favre, the guy was a wastoid here in Atlanta...it was pretty much the norm apparently for him to show up for meetings drunk or hungover, and reportedly alot of players didnt like him...they also had Chris Miller in place...he was young and coming off some really good season/s, so they had no reason to think they werent set at QB..I think he was basically done in by injuries/concussions
