Of course we will struggle. Dak didnt take any snaps, unlike Daniel Jones. I think Jones may have played 3 full pre season games. Pollard didnt take a snap, unlike Barkeley who rushed for 590 yards with 4 Tds in the pre season.

So I expect us to really struggle for the first 7-8 games until they get back into the swing of things.

Look at Deion's son who came out and threw for 510 yards with not a single pre season snap.

Lol I thought Barkley hit 1k? They will be the greatest show on turf 2.0 and we will look like a high-school offense. Odessa Permian, but still high-school. We will pull it together after 12-14 games.

The New York Giants surprised a lot of folks with their 2022 campaign. Their first year under new head coach Brian Daboll produced a winning record, a postseason appearance and a playoff win, and all that culminated into hope for the future. While the Giants ultimately lost in the divisional round at the hand of the Philadelphia Eagles in embarrassing fashion, there is no denying that this team has made tremendous strides in one season and they hope they can build upon this momentum heading into 2023.

The Giants traded for Darren Waller this offseason and it looks like a move that may pay large dividends early and often for the team. A quarterback’s best friend is a reliable tight end, and when healthy Waller is one of the leagues best. In 2022, due to injury and just the lack of talent, the receiving options for the Giants were substandard, but with the return of some key veterans and the addition of Waller, this Giants offense has a chance to be much more formidable in 2023.

The last time Sterling Shepard played in an NFL game was against the Cowboys on Monday night on October 2nd, 2022 where he would leave the game early due to tearing his ACL in that game. Fast forward to current day and it looks as if Shepard is back and ready to roll for week one against the Cowboys once again. It remains to be seen if Shepard is 100% back, or if he needs more time to acclimate and is on a pitch count in his first regular-season game back.

Either way, the Cowboys cannot afford to forget about Shepard who, when healthy, is a threat to change a game with his big-play ability. There are other options to be concerned with when it comes to this Cowboys offense, but to dismiss the veteran wide receiver in week one may be a big mistake.

Difficult to say. IF they truly have simplified things & are going to rely on running plays & quicker passes to set the stage, they should be able to practice that enough against our D to come out proficient.

IF they try longer developing plays could see that causing some issues. If they can't run it, definite issues. If Tyler isn't impaired, I think they will be ok.

Don't think lack of PS game reps hurts this group, and I'll put faith in the coaches for recognizing the starters are veteran enough to have gotten the necessary work in training camp.

Cowboys score early and often. Be ready for the standard lull that gives the Giants hope, but I think the Cowboys get in done in the end.

Yes cause the only way to get in game shape is to play in games. They aren't even allowed to hardly practice hard, so as much as these players think they are working hard there is no substitution for real games.

Agree 100%. However, I think that because we are facing the Giants we will have time to finish strong.

However, If we were facing the Jets game 1 and their defense…..I would say it doesn’t look good

But like.. why post this? The point of these forums is have opinions, share them, and debate them.

Do you want a single master post, "We don't know what will happen!"

Personally, I think them starting slow will be a near certainty given recent history. I don't know if it's Dak, the coachs, some combination of both? If they don't start slow, I wonder if that's telling of KM.
The reason to post it is as a corrective to the idea that something is a "near certainty given recent history."

Two years ago, the Cowboys offense lit it up in game 1 despite not playing in preseason. Is that not "recent" enough history to tell us that it's not a "near certainty?" Or does only last year count?

If they start slow, or don't start slow, that doesn't tell us anything until we get further into the season to understand what to make of the team and the Giants. There are so many more variables involved than "did the starters get in a couple series in preseason games?"

Yes...

Compare week 1 last year @ home against TB vs the playoff game @ TB. We were a much better team...
Not playing the starters at all will cause us to come out of the gate slow, we just have to hope the defense can carry us to victory against NY
Compare week 1 last year against TB vs. week 1 the year before against TB. The starters didn't play in preseason both years. The results in game 1 were completely different. It's only recency bias that is making everyone think that it matters so much.

The Cowboys are running a new offense, they haven't shown much of it this preseason, so the Giants aren't sure what they'll see. That's an advantage for the Cowboys, I think.

Even if we do look slugglish I have no doubt in my mind we beat the giants. We own those guys.

None of us know.
Heres something I do know…on the first three and out for the Cowboys, the game day thread will implode, some fans will call the season over.

- New offense, new play caller, none of the major starters (on both side of the ball) were in preseason play.
Total bubble wrap and reserve.

- Especially the starting QB.
Although we've seen elite QBs like Mahomes and Josh Allen take to preseason
games. Total coaches decision.

- Coaches figure their star players can work themselves back into game shape and mode as the season opener
games proceeds. Again total coaches decision.

- After 3 str8 opening season losses, I'm hopefully an improved defense can keep it competitive as the offense gets unwind.

I know practice is a help, but nothing is more helpful than going against another opponent. Do you think our offense comes out sluggish in this first game? If so, where may we struggle?

I hope that we don't have any issues, but this offense was not in during the pre-season, as were a lot of starting NFL offenses. Please give your thoughts......
I have no idea. I'm assuming they're going all out in practice against our own defense. That's the only way to prepare for week 1 if they're not going to take any preseason snaps.

If I see a false start, followed by an overthrown pass, followed by a Vaughn fumble, I’m throwing the TV out the window…….but any other scenario will be just fine

They will call for Trey Lance unironically
…….and a child shall lead them.

The Trey Trey legend will take root and flourish to a SB appearance .

Jerry will turn to bronze immortality and the Shanahan name will be stricken from the annals of football history
