I hope Rod sticks around because he might be only person with credibility in the organization. But I can't find a good reason someone with his coaching ability would stick around. We have to hope he likes really big challenges.

That was magic???????????

The cult of Marinelli is OUT OF CONTROL.

The answer to the OP is that he will get cleared out with the rest of the losers after this season.

You can label anything and make it appear absurd [magic] . If you deny Marinelli did a bang up job
with directly from the street rejects[with no camp] then I call that every critical.Marinelli with a full camp
and healthy bodies will get more then most from what he is given. This is based on his reputation.

So now Marinelli is head coach material? This dude is becoming more legendary by the minute. More so than Matt Johnson even.

Who ever said he has to be head coaching material for Jerry to decide to hire him for that? Are you forgetting who and what JJ is?

Hey, we're talking about the same guy who decided to assign Garrett to coaching defense!!

What's it going to be then, eh?

I agree. He did a bang up job fielding the worst defense in team history.

He is a solid coach like many others. But he cannot will garbage to be successful.

I'm just trying to figure out what he saved us from. It was the worst defense I've ever seen with this team. This guy is basically getting credit for having street free agents that try hard.

With all the talk of Melton possibly coming here because hes from Dallas and has played for RM got me thinking about will RM even be here after next season? Even with or without Kiffin being here.

Rod will probably be head coach by next year:D

teaching technique and motivating are pretty big parts of coaching I've been told.

I think he signs an extension. He's not leaving if we make the playoffs. Which this division is wide open.

Hahaha. No it's not. Philly is about to take a stranglehold on it again. Sproles and McCoy in a Chip Kelley rushing offense? Look out

As bad as the defense was last season, it's possible it may become good under Marinelli. Draft him some talent, especially on the D line, and see what he can do. I don't want to play "scapegoat the D coordinator" again. Marinelli has had one year with a destroyed D line. I'm not guaranteeing he's the answer. I just want to see what he can do with better talent on the line.

There really isn't any secret. If you get good defensive talent, most coordinators will look good. If you don't, it won't.

That is not to say I don't like Marinelli. He has been in the league for awhile and his players seem to love him. I also like having a coordinator on the opposite side of the head coach who is older and a failed head coach. Marinelli is not going to be hired as a head coach again, so you have a chance to build some things.

In the end though it is the front office's job to bring in better talent. It also worries me if Marinelli has a lot of influence in the type of player Jerry brings in. That should be the front office job. It usually doesn't end well if coordinators and position coaches have a lot of pull in the player selection. All coaches give input but I don't like them having a lot of pull in the war rom...even great coordinators. If used to bug me seriously when talking about a failed pick when it was said, "that was a Wade pick".
