Will the McCarthy adopt the "Rugby Scrum"?

Yet nobody had CTE until 2005. Yeah, right.

So you want to increase the opportunities of something known to be dangerous until you have proof years later? Please apply to the NFL competition committee, they love your approach to the hypocrisy of player health and safety.
Wrong. Nobody got hurt because it’s not dangerous. You don’t like it because it’s hard to stop.

It is not hard to stop. It will just be more dangerous to run and stop. The NFL adjust to new plays. When you add a Rugby scrum, expect Rugby scum injuries at a NFL football collision impact. That results in more injuries.

By definition it is hard to stop as the success rate in stopping it is very low.

The league is apparently allowing this play going forward. Since Philly was extremely successful with it, no doubt we will see it more throughout the league this year.

"Rugby Scrum" is a qb sneak where two players push the QB forward for short yardage TD's/1st downs.

Do you think the Cowboys will use it? or do you see it as a cheap way to get td's/1st?

I think every team should adopt some kind of version of this. I'd be tempted, though, to take the QB out for a running back who can take a snap and use the players to push him forward. Kind of a wildcat/scrum mixture, especially if we keep a bigger back like Luepke. I'd at least experiment with it that way. Of course, the negative is that you take away the possibility of a pass (although a surprise pass from a back could work to keep the defense off guard).

I think eventually, either by defenders going low or players pushing when the QB is in a bind, there will be an injury that causes the scrum to get banned, but until then, Philly showed it can be extremely effective.

They should try this. Try picking him up and throwing him over... would be interesting to see how the league handles that. lol
You can push but you can’t pull. So he’d only be able to do so if Deuce’s body was never beside or behind the throwers, which would be a very difficult 170 lb launch

I was surprised more teams in the league didn’t copy it last year. It’s basically an automatic first down every time.

I agree with Peter King player safety issues that subject QBs, "to be treated like endangered objects in the middle of trash-compactors.”
Dak is what? 6',2", plays in the mid 220s. But we've seen what happens to the season when he's injured.
Not saying he's Tom Brady or Joe Montana, but he is our best hope for a decent season.

I understand the owners standpoint that the players aren't capable of getting up to speed in the close quarters the play is used (good point).
Of course there is always the possibility of a backer coming over the scrum like a guided missile, ala Kansas City in the Super Bowl.
Still you have big bodies falling uncontrollably, twisting bones, muscles, and tendons. Landing on fingers, hands, ankles, and what have you.

In a league where they stress player safety, it doesn't make sense to ask players to abandon common sense.
Peter King is talking out his ***. The contact that occurs on QB sneaks is some of the most mild you’ll have in a game. There’s no one running full speed into contact etc. Even in actual rugby very few injuries occur in the scrum.
