It's early in the season but should the Cowboys lose to the 49ers, it will have detrimental affects not only playoff placement wise, it will also have a negative mental affect on the Cowboys and their fans.
It will be hard going through the rest of the season, even if the Cowboys get on a roll, knowing that no matter what they do they will still likely lose (again) to the 49ers should they meet in the playoffs.

Not necessarily. It's an early benchmark to see where the Cowboys fall in the pecking order. Season is long so the 49-er team we meet this weekend might not be the same one we would meet if we make it to the playoffs. There are enough crappy teams on our schedule to get into the playoffs.

This fan was ready for this before the non-stop crap tossing ran out of time during the off season!

They lost to the Cardinals, the 49'ers are suppose to be worse than that? Not saying one way or the other but this team had to beat the bad teams beforehand and it failed already.

No…not at all.

They have a really tough schedule ahead of them. I’ve got them going 10-7 on the season anyways.

I believe this is a "must-win."

At 3-2, you're likely trailing the Eagles by two games in your own division. And, thanks to the inexcusable loss at Arizona, the Cowboys suddenly go from "contender" to "middle of the pack" team, vying for a wild-card. Dallas tends not to play well from behind, either on the scoreboard, or in the standings.

The psychological effect on the team - particularly, Dak - going forward? Well, everyone needs to step up and put the lie to the notion that SF is unbeatable. This game isn't on Dak alone, although he certainly bears his share of responsibility for ball-security.

Like it or not, this is a watershed contest.

No, but they can't get boat-raced, and Dak has to play with confidence. No deer-in-the-headlights this time.

I'm looking at the overall performance from the next 4 games. That will tell the story.

Of course, it will be. Didn't you read that losing game 5 of an 18 game season is the first sign of the apocalypse? Everything is over if they lose this one.

Unfortunately, I usually don't have high expectations anymore. So while it would be great if they win, history, especially recent history, shows me that they usually don't win these types of games. So no, the season won't be over, it will just feel like more of the same old Cowboys. What will suck is having to deal with the multiple obnoxious 49er fans I know out here in California.

Won't be for me but for our boys in blue,if we lose again to Frisco,it will be like how the giants feel when they play us..the mentally of the players will suffer greatly and could cause a downward spiral..WE HAVE TO WIN.

No, the season isn't over if the Cowboys lose.... For me it will be about how the Cowboys lose this game, if it's a close game and the Cowboys lose by 3 or 4, I'd have no problem but it the defense is scorched by the Niners going up and down the field scoring touchdown and the Cowboys offense doesn't score Td's and instead have to settle for Fieldgoals or Dak turns the ball over via fumbles or int, or doesn't move the offense, then it will be very concerning going forward.

A win for the Cowboys Sunday night in primetime on the road against an undefeated team that is the consensus front runner in the NFC for the Superbowl, then the monkey is off their back and Dallas will believe they can compete with any team in the league, not only to get into the playoffs but for the Superbowl.
