I listened to most of Garrett's press conference, and he mentioned Thornton playing the one gap and getting used to it. so i'm gonna assume this will be our starting DL.

Irving T. Crawford Thornton Mayowa

your thoughts?

Yah, who is Mayowa? :lmao2:

atkins is a stud, but are their ends as good? are the rotational guys as good?

I think the vikings and giants are the two toughest lines we will face but if JPP is healthy and ready I give the nod to the giants.

The guys on the Giants starting DL put up 9 sacks last year. Demarcus Lawrence nearly matched the enitre group. 9. Combined. Just because they're being paid elite money doesn't make them elite players. I'd take their DL over ours but you're projecting all of them to perform much better than they have before and to do so after getting paid. How many times has that happened?

Could be, personally I would swing Crawford out to play some to DE to get the best group out there at times. Crawford isnt the most natural fit at DE, but is the most athletic of the group and allows them to get Mcclain in that has played well from the 1 tech. Theyre going to have to be very creative with their blitzes. Simply relying on the secondary to hold off a Giants receiving corp wont work.

Not a terrible bunch if that's what you have to go with. I think we're going to collapse the middle of the pocket early and often.

Man Gregory and DLaw would have made that group as deep and talented as any since '06 and '07.

Instead it looks well, kind of sad.

Ill give you most talented group since 2013, but going all the way back to 2006 and 2007 is a big stretch. Ill cheat a little and count players like Greg Ellis, Demarcus Ware, and Anthony Spencer as DEs in the 4-3 vs the 3-4. Would a combo of Lawrence and Gregory be a more talented group of des? Then compare interior guys Jay Ratliff, Jason Hatcher, Marcus Spears, Chris Canty, Stepehen Bowen to our current rotation. Jay Ratliff and Hatcher were pro bowl players. Marcus Spears was a solid starter, Canty, and Bowen were good rotational guys that went on to start many games for other teams.

I just dont see how even with Lawrence and Gregory in the fold to start the season this would be even remotely close to the best line in 10 years.

I'm starting to get nervous that Dak might get a reality check. Hope I'm wrong.

Our starting o-line against their starting d-line is a battle of two great groups while our starting d-line against their starting o-line is a battle of pathetic
Their Own line has not shined too bright this preseason.

Hatcher was a DE all the way until 2012 when He converted to a DT for his last season here and that's when he finally made a pro bowl. At that point Ratliff and all those guys weren't there. Before that Hatcher was a JAG.

So what you are saying is that Sunday is going to be a legendary battle of the titans? Their OL versus our DL?

janoris jenkins said today because of the giants front four dak will be on the run a lot.

he also mentioned how much they are planning to disguise what they are doing pre snap.

its only a matter of time before a giant player guarantees a win.

People forget that Coughlin retired. He was a fantastic coach. Things will be different, but they still have Spagnolo.

It's going to be our strength v. theirs when we're on offense. Maybe Dak is on the run a lot. Maybe he gets a clean pocket or enough time to make throws the way he did in that SEA game. They still have to cover Dez and stop the run and worry about the underneath stuff and the designed roll outs and now, Dak's feet. That side of the game is going to be a fun matchup on both fronts.

Their offense v. our defense is going to be another story. A compromised line v. an untalented front.

This game--like most of them--is going to come down to big plays and turnovers. How it turns out depends on which of those Dak is able to give us. If he takes care of the ball and makes a couple big plays, this is a game we should win. The Giants are going to probably be a fairly good team this year, but it's early in the year and they have a lot of new parts to get working together. And there's sometimes a difference between looking good on paper and looking good on tape. We'll find out if they can deliver against a really talented offense, overall.

I said since '06 and 07 not saying they were better than that group.

The point wasnt just about Hatcher, more so that this isnt the most talented dl in dallas since 2006 even with Lawrence and Gregory in the mix from game 1. I recognize Hatcher had one great season, and a couple others of solid production, but until this line emerges its hard to say its better than anything else in the last decade...

I doubt I could pull two players, one of which who hasn't done a damn thing in the league, off the roster and turn a deepest in years group to just sad.

Potentially, say what you want about Gregory but his college tape was impressive. Guy is a very talented player, he just can't lay off the weed.
