Will we bench Heath for Woods?

What Jeff Heath needs, like everybody on defense, is for this offense to return to it's time-of-possession dominance.

Too many plays exposes all average defenses.
Agreed. Our TOP is nowhere near what it was last year and it's killing our defense. Our 3rd down rate is pathetic.

Let’s clap and wake Rod up and find out. It’s obvious: we should.

I heard this morning that we are 28th in TOP. Last year we were 2nd. That's the difference in a nutshell.

Not so fast....not yet. The key is we are still down a couple of CBs, so Woods is playing in coverage in nickel and dime. Heath can't do that, so he'll stay at safety, but Woods and every other healthy secondary guy will play plenty next Sunday.

Heath hasn't looked like a starter out there. I'd give Woods reps at the expense of Frasier and Heath both this week, and then make the switch during the bye if he looks better than Heath does v. GB.

It's virtually impossible for Woods to not look better than Heath.

So what can Heath do? He couldn't tackle a 2 year old in the open field.

We're only average when Lee is healthy and Lawrence is balling. We never should have gone into the season with Heath as our starter.

We'll see. We thought Heath looked pretty good in spot duty, too. Playing the full game when they have tape on you and are targeting you is a different story.

I'm so tired of fielding a ****ty defense and hoping it gets better with coaching. It's painful.
I've always said, Marinelli was at his best when he had superstars on his defense, like Lynch, Sapp, Booger, that LB and Simeion Rice. He does not have anyone near that on this defense. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken ****.

That's true. Expect more of the 3-2-6 this week. GB has no running game whatsoever. I will say Woods and Lewis have to be the best tackling DB's I've seen in years!!

I was pissed last year when we spent the #4 on a RB and the #32 on a question mark. I get that it takes time to build a team, and we've done a good job with the offense, overall. But, man, how long is it going to take to get the defense right when you keep neglecting it?

Next to impossible for fans to evaluate safeties as we don't know the coverage although we can make better guesses with the All 22 than we used to. Used to be in the dark basically. Even basic Cover 2 etc has different called coverages up to a point at times.
Safety is the most mis-understood position by fans.

Heath is not great but he has not been the liability that people claim.

Woods is playing CB. No way to know if he knows the defense well enough to play Safety yet.

I wouldn't mind giving Chido some looks back there as well. Perhaps as the lone deep when Jones covers the TE in passing downs? We need to do something.
