Will we bench Heath for Woods?

I've always said, Marinelli was at his best when he had superstars on his defense, like Lynch, Sapp, Booger, that LB and Simeion Rice. He does not have anyone near that on this defense. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken ****.

I might add Urlacher, who was a stud in coverage, Peppers, Peanut Tillman, Lance Briggs, etc etc.....poor guy has been spoiled! Meanwhile Stephen gives him crap!

I'll sacrifice a little physicality for a playmaker any time any place.
Woods needs to start.

We'll see. We thought Heath looked pretty good in spot duty, too. Playing the full game when they have tape on you and are targeting you is a different story.

Agree. But we've seen Heath fail. As a safety it's about as poor as you can get. It's tough to match that.

I was pissed last year when we spent the #4 on a RB and the #32 on a question mark. I get that it takes time to build a team, and we've done a good job with the offense, overall. But, man, how long is it going to take to get the defense right when you keep neglecting it?

But we got a steal in the second with a top 5 pick because we didn't know if he could walk ever again!! Always bargain bin shopping on that side of the ball!! Frustrating.....

We knew the defense would have growing pains and it would take awhile before it could respond well.

Yup. I love Zeke, but Ramsey is one of the better corners in the league. CB > RB. And had we passed on Smith, we'd have been able to cash in on Foster falling in our laps, dodging the Taco bullet.

Heath is playing way too over aggressive IMO. Which takes him out of the play easily.

Safety is the most mis-understood position by fans.

Heath is not great but he has not been the liability that people claim.

Woods is playing CB. No way to know if he knows the defense well enough to play Safety yet.
he can't be any worse than what we have trotted out there since the early days of Roy Williams.

Looked to me like they benched Heath for 2 series after he missed Gurley on that 53 yard TD reception.

Only they ran Frazier out there instead of Woods for some bizarre reason.
Because Woods is free safety and Heath is a strong safety

Heath looks like Wilcox looked two years ago, only he doesn't wrap up. I'm really disappointed in his play here, early.

That said, Woods has looked pretty damn good in limited reps. He's definitely going to earn more snaps.

After seeing it the past couple of weeks and then reading the tweets, Woods needs to be the starter. Will they make that move is the question considering Heath isn't injured?
I really don't see any negative at this point in at least splitting some serious time.

I realize that, but like I posted earlier, they really aren't using Heath as a true SS.

How often has he been in the box providing run support? He has been 25 yards from the LOS most of the game.

With heath out there it's like we are playing 10 guys on defense. He is either hitting his own players or missing tackles. Do he close his eyes or something?

Woods needs to be on the field period, whether it be moving Byron Jones or sitting Heath.
