Then why do you still bother watching? I'm not saying you should cry or anything, but what's the point of being a fan if you get no emotional satisfaction out of seeing your team win?
I was a pro football fan before the the Dallas Cowboys were ever formed and I did not have a favorite team then but I loved to watch the games because the football was so much better than college ball. When I moved to Dallas I became a Cowboys diehard fan for years and the Ice Bowl crushed me for a few weeks but I recovered and continued to be an emotional Cowboys fan.
When SB5 came along and they announced thye referee was Norm Schacter (?sp) I figured in advance that he would find some way to give the game to the Colts because the Boys always lost by questionable decisions every time he was the ref and sure enough, late in the game there weas a fumble recovered by Dallas but he took the ball away from Dallas and gave it to Baltimore and they went on to kick the winning field goal, I suffered great emotional trauma for months afterward.
I finally drew the inescapable conclusion that it wasn't the best team that wins but whomever the refs want to win and I determined that the only way for me to survive as a football fan was to love the game for the game itself and not care which players or team won or lost but to be independent. While the Cowboys are still my favorite team and I enjoy watching them play, it means little to me who wins or loses or why.
I simply love pro football and I realize there are times my favorite team will not win and I won't let myself become sky high or bottom out emotionally; after all, I don't play for the team.
I really loved watching the playoffs this year. I admit it, I get irritated with JJ for his bone-headed decisions and Wade, too.
I think Jerry has finally made an intelligent decision in allowing Jason Garrett to have veto power over staff and players and I think it will put the Cowboys on the right path again.
Players and teams come and go but the game remains.
Life is good.
