I think they got the short end of the stick

Your Crazy ....

Willis might not have the same speed/ quickness he flashed before the Fiesta Bowl, but he can play at a high level and he is young.

Getting a young horse with low miles for a 3rd. Steal.

Sean Alexander and Edgerrin James could have been had for a second two years ago and Willis is younger than both.

I'll bet McGehee rushes for more yards than any RB on our roster...any takers?
(barring injuries to any of the RB's, of course)

McGAHEE DEAL: SEVEN YEARS, $40.12 MILLION

We're told that the Ravens and running back Willis McGahee are very close to agreeing on a seven-year deal worth $40.12 million.

As we previously explained, McGahee will receive $7.5 million to sign, an initial option bonus of $6 million, and a second option bonus of $1.5 million. The salaries are $595,000 in 2007, $605,000 in 2008, $620,000 in 2009, $3.6 million in 2010, $6.0 million in 2011, $6.5 million in 2012, and $7.2 million in 2013.

Since McGahee was due to earn $2.155 million in 2007, the deal is essentially a six-year extension worth $37.965 million.

If the Ravens cut McGahee before the back-end salaries kick in, he will earn a total of $20.42 million over four years.

the interesting thing I believe, and I may be wrong about this is the bills get rid of him for two good picks in the third and a 7th, but I believe he is in the last yeary of his deal.

So if the ravens dont like him and he walks next year without a contract then they gave up all that for nothing. Then the bills would have gained three picks for a guy that didnt want to be in buffalo and they had no intentions of resigning anyway.

Mcgahee I believe has 3 kids by three different women and he is still single....and it may be 4 I cant remember.

In my opinion that is kind of low rent. Not trying to be mr. morality or anything but you know come on.

Does it matter? No one knows the situation behind how the children were conceived. But even if it's a one-night stand, if he's taking care of them, then what does it matter.

What would be low rent if he's living large and he wasn't doing right by them...at least financially.

2 3rd rounders for a 1,200 yard back? Seems like an OK deal to me. But RB's are so readily available, especially in the 2nd and 3rd round, it seems they could have found someone servicable.

The father can't be in 3 places at once and play football. That part will matter in the future, to the kids. It'll be years before anyone knows how that plays out, but it's hardly the recommended way to bring them up, don'cha think?

Again there's the assumption that anyone knows his level of involvement with his children. You can point the finger and say he's this or that, but it's not like there's any info out there about any of the children's mothers running to court for child support or back pay.

You're right in that it may not be the recommended way for having a family, but there are fewer and fewer "traditional" homes nowadays. He doesn't have to be three places at one time. There's no reason he can't have them all with him at the same time on single visits. If he's handling his responsibility financially and emotionally as far as his kids, then that's all you can ask.

The Ravens and Bills agreed to a trade Thursday that will send running back Willis McGahee to Baltimore in exchange for the team's third and seventh-round picks in this year's draft, along with the Ravens' third-round pick in 2008, league sources tell ESPN.com's Michael Smith.
You beat me to it.

Come'on Wayne that's a loaded bet... #1. Without knowing how Phillips is going to handle the backs I couldn't take this bet.

That really isn't the way to look at this. McGahee would have been a free agent after this year. That meant he could have went anywhere. Baltimore did what they had to do to ensure they got him. By cutting Jamal Lewsi the Ravens had to make a move this year for a back and were willing to pay that price to Buffalo.

that is baltimores perspective. I am speaking on both sides and buffalo's side is that they got draft picks for a guy who was going to leave anyway.

Maybe thats the way to look at it?

Ok.

Like I said I am not the morality police, but for a guy that young to have a bunch of kids 3 or 4 whatever it is with as many different women is Immature and shows his lack of responisiblity.

And having money has absolutely nothing to do with being a parent. ZERO.

Living large and sending cash on a regular basis to the childs mother does not replace the father. I for one think being a parent is important.

Like I said though, I dont really care and I am not the morality police, that little tidbit about him just sticks out to me.

Well said. Money does not equal a father. And I know of NO ONE who has 3-4 kids with 3-4 mothers, that gets them all together at once, on a regular basis. I also am not the morality police, but that is low-rent, regardless of how much money he sends or how often he has them together.

I'm willing to bet many of you haven't really watched Mcgahee much and are just going by the name on the back of the jersey or what they remembered him doing in college four years ago . Unfortunately, I took him in fantasy football like a sucker and got to watch his play a lot. No natural feel for finding the hole, and whether its through better competition or the knee injury he can't just outrun people to the corner like he could in college.

Yeah, McGahee could run for a lot of yards if Baltimore continually feeds him the ball, although he gets worse and visibly wears down as the game goes along, but how effective will he be? He ran for 3.8 ypc last year and the year before that. He hasn't cracked 4.0 for his career.
