Ok.

Like I said I am not the morality police, but for a guy that young to have a bunch of kids 3 or 4 whatever it is with as many different women is Immature and shows his lack of responisiblity.

And having money has absolutely nothing to do with being a parent. ZERO.

Living large and sending cash on a regular basis to the childs mother does not replace the father. I for one think being a parent is important.

Like I said though, I dont really care and I am not the morality police, that little tidbit about him just sticks out to me.
It does stand out. And it does speak to a level of immaturity. But again, you don't know as to what circumstances those children were conceived and you don't know anything about his parenting skills and neither do I.

I'm not suggesting you are being a morality police, I just don't like to see assumptions made about something where there's no proof of it either way.

I'm willing to bet many of you haven't really watched Mcgahee much and are just going by the name on the back of the jersey or what they remembered him doing in college four years ago . Unfortunately, I took him in fantasy football like a sucker and got to watch his play a lot. No natural feel for finding the hole, and whether its through better competition or the knee injury he can't just outrun people to the corner like he could in college.

Yeah, McGahee could run for a lot of yards if Baltimore continually feeds him the ball, but how effective will he be? He ran for 3.8 ypc last year and the year before that. He was thoroughly average. And he actually got worse and visibly wore down as the game went along.

I lived your pain. :laugh2:

People cannot understand that he is not that good. His lack of desire to learn, or do what he is told, combined with his overinflated opinion of hisself (which many here mistakenly share) make for the perfect storm of underachievement.

More explosive than Julius... He is the same as Julius. Only, Julius hasn't been able to fool people into thinking he's something he's not. McGahee has....maybe it's because he actually does kill the Jets - but that's all.

I agree with that even though I don't want WG to kill me. :)

I'm a huge believer that one of more main purposes in life is to reproduce responsibly and then care for our young.

And no, money has nothing to do with it.

For me it comes down to having a father home every night (outside of work responsibilities) and being what he should be-- a responsible adult who takes care of the next generation-- not just with money but by being "there".

To me McGahee is totally irresponsible... and again it has nothing to do with money.

My father said to me before I started dating-- "If you can sleep with her you can marry her".

Being a man is more than trying to see how many partners you can bed-- the unprotected sex takes it to an even higher level of irresponsibleness.

The Ravens let go of a great guy in Mulitalo and pick up a turd in McGahee. Pretty sad.

Odds are Mcgahee is somewhat irresponsible. But as WG pointed out, we don't know the details. And there are lots of people with jobs that require them to be away from their families, often for years at a time. Are they bad as well? Some of our soldiers have been away from their families for several years now on active duty. Irresponsible?

Talking to my aged grandmother, she had some interesting insights to share about how in her day chidren were more often swapped around the extended family, with kids who did not get along with their parents going to live with relations with whom they did get along. This 'the nuclear family is it' thing is really pretty modern. And not shared everywhere in the world.

McGahee has not shown himself to be so deadbeat that he's been hauled to court over this, a not inconsiderable thing in this day and age.

I do still think that Buffalo got a good value. The Ravens...well, we will see.

When you father a child you are SUPPOSED to do more then write checks.
There is no excuse for his conduct. No matter how many here seem willing to look the other way or make excuses for him- there are none. No matter what the "circumstances". THAT is a cop out.

There is more then enough proof about him. No relationship with any of the women. No indication that he sees the children. Nothing but writing checks.
Being nonjudgemental is just another term for not wanting to take a stand.
Not wanting to say"This is wrong". Is to accept and agree to it.

How do you know this? You don't know that he doesn't see his children. You don't if he's had any kind of relationship with the mothers of said children or even the nature of the relationship he has with them now.

Another assumption, I see.

It's not even about defending McGahee. I'm actually not. I just don't know enuff either way to say, "Yeah, that guy. Man, he's a turd."

And Winky, you never have to worry about offending me. You're my bud. :) I actually agree with the overall principle of what you and theebs posted. But I happen to think that without knowing more of what goes on in McGahee's personal life, how can one speak on it with certainty. I can't.

For all we know Willis has custody of his children, and the wives arent a part of their lives. WG has the best point. We do not have any proof that he is a bad father, or irresponsible in regards to the nurturing, and raising of his children.

Come on man, having three babies with three different women in one year, is irresponsible, period. No matter how big of a check he writes, no matter how much he sees them, no matter the custody arrangements. Having 3 kids with 3 women in 1 year is irresponsible. You can't paint this up to be a pretty picture, no matter how skilled of a painter you are.

The Ravens and Bills agreed to a trade Thursday that will send running back Willis McGahee to Baltimore in exchange for the team's third and seventh-round picks in this year's draft, along with the Ravens' third-round pick in 2008, league sources tell ESPN.com's Michael Smith.
Damn, that's not much. JJ will be lucky to get us a 3rd rounder.
