Wilson's worth Increases

I think it's way more likely that a team offers Wilson #2 money than someone offering Gallup #1 money.

As things stand today anyway. Lots of ball ahead of us before it's that time

We have to continually get younger, so I could see letting Cooper go.

If you consider Cooper and Jarwin's contracts, they combined account for $28.25M for the 2022 cap with a combined $8M in dead money so by trading/releasing them BOTH Dallas would actually save $20.25M against the 2022 salary cap.

With Schultz easily replacing Jarwin as the #1 TE, re-signing Schultz is paramount. Regarding Cooper, while his current age of 27 is young for a WR he has been racking up some injury issues and Lamb is quickly becoming Dallas' biggest WR threat so looking at re-signing both Gallup and Wilson to replace Cooper's production at a lesser cost might be what is best for this overall team.

I actually think both could happen the way teams spend in fa. A team could try to make Gallup their #1 and some could try to make Wilson their #2.

Me personally, I keep Cooper and lamb, and if Gallup and/or Wilson are too expensive, I sign brown. We also have Turner and the rookie from this year that are both intriguing.

I just think Cooper is more talented and has produced since he's been on the cowboys and I'm not sure Gallup and Wilson would be as effective.

I’ve been a big fan of Wilson. We need to extend him. He’d be a real good number 3 if Gallup leaves.

I am not going to concern my self over any contract / roster situations until the off-season. A lot of football left to be played.
And it is a moot point to speculate.

I will just enjoy the fireworks along the road to the SB. :D:flagwave:

Enjoying today while preparing for tomorrow isn't a bad thing.

I love Cooper to be fair, I'm just trying to be realistic. He is dinged up a lot and I don't think you just simply replace him, but we have to look at getting younger all the time.

Agreed as while Cooper himself contributes and allows others to contribute based on his threat to defenses, Dallas has many upcoming free agents that need to be brought back to better the team as a whole.

We see what happens when some resources (draft or free agents) are dedicated to the defense and takes a more balanced approach to the offense. Dallas put a lot of emphasis on the WR corp via the trade for Cooper, drafting of Lamb, etc. but a balanced offense is allowing for less resources to be dedicated to the WR group. Also, keep in mind the OL isn't getting any younger so there is a lot to look at in terms of the Dallas roster and the financial resources.

Cedric Wilson is our #3 WR and is playing very well. The last couple of games he's made big plays on offense. We all know he's a very good special teams player who will selflessly make tackles and then come in and play Wr in Gallup's absence. Last week he broke ankles for a receiving TD and this week he had a completion.

You could tell that he saw how open our WRs were on that play, Lamb was wide open. And if that pass was thrown deeper, it's a TD.
But nonetheless, a great play call and gain.
He's one of those players I always hope gets some opportunities.
This isn't Gallup vs. Wilson. Just appreciating Wilson for taking advantage of his opportunities and making plays.

- Wilson has shown up, made his presence felt, made key game contribution. That's what you'd like from your reserve backups.
Pollard, Kearse, Wilson, Steele, Cox, McGovern, ,,Jarwin etc.

- If we have to lose Gallup in FA, and have to turn to Wilson as the 3rd WR next year (strongly assuming we can re-sign Wilson as he is FA too)
i would be well ok with returning him. He has a good knack for WR position and making his share of plays in pass game.

- Plus with adding his skill set with Dak and Kellen, and brings out the best in him.
(though i'd still like to eventually add that skilled blazing burner for spots/occasions for this offense as a 4th role)

- Great part too is Ceddy is staying healthy. something he had issues earlier in his career.

Get through the NE game. And he will get 2 weeks to be 100%. As will other players. And we should get other players back.
I think after the bye week. DLaw will be the only player needing to get healed up. And that is around mid November, hopefully in time for the game at KC.

He's just always dinged up and it doesn't get easier to stay healthy.

Cooper entered the league in 2015. From 2015-2018 Cooper had a foot issue (2015), a couple of ankle sprain issues and a concussion (all 2017). From 2019-2021 Cooper had a foot sprain, an ankle sprain, a quad bruise, a knee sprain (all in 2019), an ankle fracture, and bruised ribs (all 2021).

The reality is that in the last several seasons the injuries are starting to accumulate and Dallas has to be mindful of that fact.

I like Wilson and he is a good #4 WR, but the guy makes one or two plays a game. Why dont we wait until he actually goes off for one of these?

Cooper is an old 26 or 27 or whatever he is. Always dinged up, not practicing, held out, ect.....ect....

More like wait to see if he can stay on the field. Wilson's lack of body armor is the primary reason he lasted til the 6th

Its the Jarwin syndrome again. Wilson is a nice fill in guy when the big guys get hurt.

I think he's going to make either Gallup or Cooper expendable. No, I am not saying he's better than Cooper but when the Cowboys survey their cap situation, it may just make more sense to keep Wilson around on a much cheaper deal than pay Gallup a big contract or have Cooper eating up $20MM in cap space.

If Cooper keeps playing like he is, the Cowboys will restructure him. Easy to do since Cooper’s base is high.

Cooper is much better than either, but relative to salary, maybe, or maybe not.

I've maintained that Gallup may be more keepable than some think. Top WR are readily available in the draft the way college teams play offense now.

I really wouldn't pay top money for him. If someone does then they do.....then we can go a bit more to keep Wilson.

There also may be the choice of where we can have Wilson and Gallup, OR Cooper.

Tough one.

Again though, lot of ball to be played. What if Fehoko ends up with an opportunity and shows promise.. or Gallup comes back briefly and misses more time and ends up with low numbers in his walk year, and etc?

That's why I say lots of ball to be played before those decisions need to be made.

Probably best to just leave that for when the time comes, but it's not like we as fans have to prep for New England. It's worth discussing for now....but we just don't have all the info yet.
